Kiwi and Pear are a pair of monkeys who do everything together, and now they're off on a trip around the world. They travel to every continent, visiting penguins in Antarctica and llamas in Peru, snapping photos of the Eiffel Tower in Paris and the pyramids at Giza, snorkeling at the Great Barrier Reef in Australia and touring the Taj Mahal in India. The rhyming text and sweet illustrations are presented on gatefold pages, and at the back of the book is a map where readers can follow Kiwi and Pear's adventures by putting a sticker on each country they visit.
It all started with a child's love of art. Joyce Wan designed her first greeting card when she was just 8 years old for a city-wide greeting card design contest sponsored by the Art Institute of Boston. The design won first place and was subsequently sold through a major department store. Twenty years later, Joyce turned that early success into inspiration to launch her design studio Wanart (http://www.wanart.com) in 2003.
Joyce's debut picture book "Greetings from Kiwi and Pear" (Blue Apple Books) which is based on characters from one of her best-selling greeting card lines was published in 2009. Her two latest books "You Are My Cupcake" and "We Belong Together" were published by Scholastic/Cartwheel in Fall 2011. She also teaches continuing education courses on the business of greeting card design and art licensing at New York's School of Visual Arts helping others pursue their creative passions.
The book "We Belong Together" was selected for the Society Of Illustrators 2011 Original Art Show, an annual exhibit which showcases the year's best children's picture books.
Through all her work, Joyce hopes to inspire people to embrace the spirit of childhood and follow their dreams!
