Editorial Reviews

Daniel Cavicchi, author Tramps Like Us - Music and Meaning Among Springsteen Fans, December 1999

Greetings from the Parking Lot is groundbreaking work. . . It's almost as fun to see these people talk about their experiences and lives as it is to see Bruce! . . . Despite the modern technology and hype and business of rock'n'roll, Bruce fandom represents a rather traditional, oral culture. . . . (The) editing is really great, playing what one fan said off what another fan said. It made it seem like a group of a hundred fans was sitting in a booth at Denny's, conversing about Bruce.

Product Description

Meet the most passionate fans in the world - the disciples of rock & roll legend Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. Recorded live over a record-breaking 15 concert dates at the New Jersey Meadowlands Arena in the Summer of '99.

Since the birth of popular music, fans have flocked around their music heroes with hysterical adoration. But no fans are as fanatical as the disciples of rock & roll icon Bruce Springsteen.

In 1999, Springsteen reunited with his legendary E Street Band for a series of concerts at the arena he inaugurated nearly two decades before. All 15 shows - over 300,000 tickets in all - sold out in mere hours.

The faithful descended on New Jersey from all corners of the globe to experience a happening that many describe as a life-altering epiphany.

In this fascinating film, Springsteen fans describe their devotion in their own words as they congregate in their church - the parking lot outside the now-legendary 1999 concert stand at the New Jersey Meadowlands.

what makes these fans connect with this performer with a power that transcends music? The answers lie in Greetings from the Parking Lot. A must-have for Bruce fans and anyone who is fascinated by their passion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Non-fans enjoy it!, February 21, 2000

I've upped my rating on this video since showing it to non-fans.

I was conservative before I found that after getting them to watch "just a bit" of it, they refurse to stop and end up watching the whole thing!

It is simply a good documentary along with being a piece of musical history.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fan to Fan, January 14, 2000
This review is from: Greetings From the Parking Lot: The Springsteen Fanomenon [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is a technically well conceived and executed documentary.

A Springsteen fan has been described to me by my friend Clint Jacobs as "a Dead Head with property!"

Here they are! "Tramps" they call themselves.....they are mainstream America, with jobs, businesses of their own, families they care a great deal for.....just like Bruce. Sharing Middle Age with their Boss during a great summer of concerts. Bruce reuniting with the E Street brothers, fans reuniting with each other and Bruce friends they have shared this music with since their teens.

Some fans as young as 8 years old have something worth hearing about this American icon (Boy! Will Bruce hate being an icon, or what?). It is fascinating, funny, touching.

A must have for any fan or the parents of one, or the children of one!

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't Bother, November 11, 2000

I am a major Bruce Springsteen fan and have seen him many times including 5 other countries beside England.

Not even I however can get exited about this tape. It's nothing but boring old storys without any decent footage.

Take it from me don't waste any of your money on this one.

Its an insult to your intelligence by somebody trying to make a quick buck at the expense of Bruce and the Band.
