5.0 out of 5 stars Non-fans enjoy it!
I've upped my rating on this video since showing it to non-fans.

I was conservative before I found that after getting them to watch "just a bit" of it, they refurse to stop and end up watching the whole thing!

It is simply a good documentary along with being a piece of musical history.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't Bother
I am a major Bruce Springsteen fan and have seen him many times including 5 other countries beside England.

Not even I however can get exited about this tape. It's nothing but boring old storys without any decent footage.

Take it from me don't waste any of your money on this one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fan to Fan, January 14, 2000
This review is from: Greetings From the Parking Lot: The Springsteen Fanomenon [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is a technically well conceived and executed documentary.

A Springsteen fan has been described to me by my friend Clint Jacobs as "a Dead Head with property!"

Here they are! "Tramps" they call themselves.....they are mainstream America, with jobs, businesses of their own, families they care a great deal for.....just like Bruce. Sharing Middle Age with their Boss during a great summer of concerts. Bruce reuniting with the E Street brothers, fans reuniting with each other and Bruce friends they have shared this music with since their teens.

Some fans as young as 8 years old have something worth hearing about this American icon (Boy! Will Bruce hate being an icon, or what?). It is fascinating, funny, touching.

A must have for any fan or the parents of one, or the children of one!

5.0 out of 5 stars A must-buy for anybody who's ever seen Springsteen live, January 17, 2000

The parking lot at the Meadowlands was an oasis in the middle of Jersey swampland last summer. There was a hokey boardwalk, volley-ball in sand trucked-in from Asbury Park (they claimed!) and more tailgate partying than you've seen in your life. Those who were there know what I mean. And those who were there may see themselves or someone they know in this loving documentary of the legions of Bruce tramps who came from every corner of the globe to see one or more of the 15 sold-out Springsteen and the E Street Band shows at the Continental Airlines Arena.

I was there for a bunch of shows and this is what it was like. Especially now, in January, it's great to watch this and remember the 98-degree heat, tank tops and shorts, the endless beers and barbeques, more different Springsteen music than you've ever heard anywhere in your life and all the new friends I made. Got a Bruce video? Play this first and you'll savour it even more...

The stories are heartfelt and moving. I had tears more than once.

Thanks to the filmmakers, this never-to-be-repeated experience has been captured forever. Thanks.

And thanks to my little brother who got it for me for Christmas! It was the only gift that counted.

MT

1.0 out of 5 stars A slow-moving train-wreck to nowhere, August 7, 2000

As of this writing I have made eight attempts to sit through this documentary disaster. I officially throw in the towel at this point. I am a Springsteen fanatic and it a shame to see a subject so near and dear to so many trashed like this. There is no pacing nor direction in the plodding/frenzied mis-mash of footage (recorded in about 3 days and edited in about 2) What was the point of this thing? I believe M. Sodano took a handy-cam to the Meadowlands parking lot and is now selling his sloppy unedited footage to an unsuspecting public.

2.0 out of 5 stars Lots of problems with this docu, November 19, 2003

I really wanted to like this documentary...I like Bruce and i like the documentary maker.

The documentary was interesting for about 15 minutes and then it just dragged on being about 2 hours of the same things being said.. Definitely should have stopped after an hour tops...

Also, the fact that this was completely un-authorized by Bruce & Co., there was no Bruce music in the documentary... Which would have been fine if there was some content involved..

All this documentary had was interview after interview talking about how great Bruce is and how great the fans are.. I got that point after 15 minutes.. anything after was pure torture to watch...
