Good Solo Effort,
By
This review is from: Greg Lake (Audio CD)
This is Greg Lake's best solo effort since "I Beleive in Father Christmas." Of Course, having Mr. Moore's guitar chops really helps this solo recording. Greg Lake's voice is in fine form; it compliments the stunning guitar riffs that you hear on "Nuclear Attack" and "It Hurts." Simply stated, the songs are top rate. The music is excellent and the vocals are super. This is a fine recording from a masterful musician and song writer.

Nice effort from Greg.,

There are some tracks on here that I'm not too crazy about, but there are some tracks on here which are quite good. If you like Greg's voice, you won't be disappointed, and Gary Moore (lead guitarist) makes a fine contribution.

Greg Lake's Memorable Solo Effort,

I really enjoyed this LP when it came out. I was surprised by the variety, yet it is the Greg Lake I enjoyed with ELP. A great vocalist, song writer. It made the 80's a better place for me.

Great Cd but look for Greg Lakes website where you can get this for 14 dollars instead of being ripped off by the guy looking for 99 dollars.

eLp Works Vol 1: Album 1 Side B+,

If Greg Lake's part of Works Vol 1 was extended to an entire album this is it. Best song is "It Hurts" this is classic Greg Lake style and displays his vocals best. "Someone" showcases the great guitar work on this album/CD. "For Those Who Dare" sounds like it is left over from the album/CD Love Beach, which I liked because of "Memoirs Of An Officer And Gentleman". This album/CD is good but not as good as Lake's part of Works Vol 1.By the way if I like every song on an album/CD it gets 5 stars. If I like half of the songs - 3 stars.

Great solo effort should have continued,

Starting with Gary Moore's "Nuclear Attack," this album is in your face hard rock from the ELP frontman.
I saw the Greg Lake Band on tour and Gary Moore was a fantastic presence. Check out the King Biscuit Flower Hour release of the concert. Greg did a fine job of putting together a strong solo performance. I felt that coming out of ELP, and with the release of this album, his career held the most potential. However, the decades have not realized that potential, sadly enough. Only one true solo album was to follow, and that was a huge disappointment for me. Nevertheless, this collection of songs has withstood the test of time. It still sounds as fresh and strong as it did in the early 80's. I'm still hoping that ELP will do something together before it's too late.

not good,

I'm a huge ELP fan, but this is a terrible record. Save your money. The chorus of the first tune .."There ain't no turnin' back..from a nuclear attack." Need I say more? Stick to Greg's gems on the early ELP stuff from Trilogy, Tarkus, and Brain Salad Surgery.
