These are four of the finest examples of ski film making in the history of the genre: "The Blizzard Of Aahhhs", "License To Thrill", "Groove Requiem In The Key Of Ski" and "P-Tex, Lies & Duct Tape". The unique character of Greg Stump shines through on all of these films and he is truly a gift to the world of skiing. Each of these films posesses the soul of a Stax recording. In fact, a big part of what sets these films apart from the myriad other ski films available is the carefully researched soundtracks. Stump doesn't stop at the obvious, but digs deep into the catalogues of such record labels as London's ZTT to uncover some real hidden gems. As a young, budding musician and music lover my life was changed by watching these films and for that I will be eternally grateful to Stump. While others produce ski "flicks", Stump actually produces films - works of (gulp) art which, I sincerely believe, will endure. The sensitivity he has displayed in his work is certainly worthy of admiration. Thanks, Stumpy.

Blizzard of Ahs, and to a similar extent, License to Thrill, are simply the best ski movies ever.

Just two major criticisms of this set:

1. It's not 16:9 or letterbox. Stump, are you sure you couldn't figure out a way to letterbox this? Didn't you shoot it on film?

2. The audio sucks, and that's one of the best things about these movies.

Please remix the sound and do this in an HD format, Stump.

I owned these great ski movies on VHS and have been waiting and wondering if they would ever come out on DVD. They finally did and I bought them without any hesitation. These classic movies show incredible skiing by the likes of Greg Schmidt, Glen Plake and others with a great soundtrack. They are, in my opinion, just the right blend between a Warren Miller ski movie (which are boring to me) and any of the newer, ski movies by Matchstick Productions or Teton Gravity Research (which are too intense). Unlike the neon and pastel ski outfits worn by some of the skiers, these movies are classics and will never get old.

Box set is as described, although not as pictured. The 4 dvds come in a single case, so don't be alarmed if you're expecting a giant box to show up and it doesn't.

Quality never goes out of style... or does it? The stunts are outrageous, classic ski film footage, Stumps flicks stand the test of time. Gotta love the 80's gear. Who knew you could do so much in rear entry boots w/ 215 straight boards strapped on? Makes for a fantastic background flick to run during a party, you'll either be drawn in by the sick tricks or the threads, for half the party crowd it becomes the main event.

Extreme Skiing was officially born after The Blizzard of Ahhhs! Must-see for anyone serious about skiing. 'Nuff sed.

First saw these Videos when they came out in the late 80s. Almost no one had seen this type of skiing or seen a ski movie put to music. Even Skiing itself was a mystery to many people, and something maybe only for the elite - the movie music references this a little - so the movie was an eye opener at the time to the possibilities. And not just skiing but snowboarding which was new at the time.
Most current ski movies are just pictures of people going super extreme with no storyline. Many are drab and the Warren Miller ones are so miserable they are depressing.
The Blizzard of Ahhs is the reason to buy the box. It has the storyline which sets it apart.
I would say this one movie is the one to watch if you want to see the transition from old to new skiing.

This stuff is classic! If you don't own it you should! Great footage. Great vibe. Doesn't compare to the cutting edge of today in films like CLAIM, but it does hold up for sure. Like I said, if you don't own it you should. Plake and Schmidt are some of the best there will ever be.

You might think that since these films are decades old they are too dated to enjoy. But you would be wrong. My wife and I were on a ski vacation and wanted some movies to watch in the evening. I looked at the Warren Miller films but then saw this gem and decided to give it a try. What a terrific buy. The highlight is "Blizzard of Ahhs", which is still ranked as the number one ski movie of all time. After two viewings I totally agree. Don't forget to check out the bonus feature on this disc, as it puts a more human face on the stars of the film, who have aged almost as well as the film.

I bought these for Christmas for my husband and he can't stop talking about them to his friends. He is so happy with them and his friends are envious....who hasn't seen these movies if they love skiing?
