This review is from: Gregorian Chants for Acoustic Guitar Book/CD Set (Paperback)
I was excited to get this book, but was a little disappointed. I think the problem is that Gregorian chant doesn't translate well to guitar. If you play the pieces in octaves as double stops they sound better. He gives you a very basic melody played on the 5th and 6th strings. Then he gives you two variation which don't even sound like chant. Some sound jazzy others have a Spanish feel. Not my flavor. There's only one I would want to learn, Veni Sancte Spiritus. The variations are very nice and moving. I feel bad not giving this a good review because the author obviously put a lot of time and research into it. But, overall the music just doesn't move me. :( I'm sure some one else will get enjoyment out of it.
