Since I was very young my life has revolved one way or another around music. Through junior high, high school and college I was involved in all the vocal groups I could join, even the high school barbershop quartet. After such a long association with all forms of music I've come to appreciate something about nearly every genre of musical performance. My tastes are eclectic.I'm not religious, but I couldn't help falling in love with classical music, especially vocal forms like Gregorian chant, polyphony, motets, and most of those tend to be religious in nature. Bach was my Latin teacher. While managing a music store in the 90s I came to develop a strong attraction to "techno" music. It's not as easy a style of music to classify as classical is. For me it's more a "I know what I like when I hear it" guy. Some electronica is basically classical music using modern instruments. Gregorian Chillout appeals to me on those two levels. The chanting is nicely integrated with the electronic setting. The only other albums like this in my collection are by Industrial Monk. Chant and "techno" blend well and carry no religious stigma, though this album would be perfect for a new age monastery.

"Gregorian Chillout" is a soothing collection of healing songs. The blend of electronic, new-age, and chill-out elements come together with calming results. A few of my favorites in this mix are "Ayume" by Hana, Lisiem by Brittania, and "Elysian Fields" by Mysteria (also on "Tempting The Muse" collection by Mysteria). "Gregorian Chillout" is best for those who enjoy music melodies with an ethereal quality.
