5.0 out of 5 stars Some of the most beautiful music ever...
Like I said, this is some of the most beautiful music ever written. I've never considered myself a religious person, but something about this music evokes a sense of reverence in me that gives me chills every time I listen to it. If you're a fan of Enigma, give this a listen, you won't regret it. If you're not a fan of Enigma, but love the sound of a chorus singing in...

3.0 out of 5 stars not the same as Gregorian Chillout 2008
I loved the album we bought first with the same name from 2008 http://www.amazon.com/Gregorian-Chillout/dp/B001P5EDQQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1296177672&sr=8-2 I loved it so much I couldn't wait to get other music from the same series. This older album is very good if you want just good old fashion chant. But if you are looking for the electronic chant of the 2008...

If you're a fan of Enigma, give this a listen, you won't regret it. If you're not a fan of Enigma, but love the sound of a chorus singing in latin, then this is for you as well. Just put this CD in, close your eyes, and drift away...

5.0 out of 5 stars A glorious sharing, December 14, 2003
This review is from: Gregorian Chillout (Audio CD)
Although listed as being by "various artists", these two discs were recorded in 1996 and 1997, respectively, by the monks and choirboys of Downside Abbey and School (near Bath, in England).

The discs represents a sharing with the rest of the world of the music which brings together the two communities, of monks and schoolboys, at masses in the Abbey.

The quality of the recording on disc 1 is superior to that on the later disc, but both convey the beauty and simplicity of the religious music and plainsong which lie at the heart of Benedictine communities. You do not have to be religious, yourself, to enjoy the sense of peace and serenity conveyed by the pieces. Relax and let the sound wash over you.

The title, "Gregorian Chillout", tends to belittle the faith which underlies the music, but do not let this put you off. Buy these and enjoy them to their fullest. You will not be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Otherworldly Best!!, November 16, 2008
This review is from: Gregorian Chillout (Audio CD)
I have bought many Gregorian Chant CDs over the years and this one
is the best! Haunting and makes me feel as peaceful as I do when I visit the
Blessed Sacrament. And Amazon has a much better price than our Barnes
and Noble, and it was shipped fast and I didn't have to waste gas
and battle long shopping lines.

I'm still confused if it's the same series or not.
