The list author says: "You never know when disaster may strike. Granted, first world countries handle disasters of all types better than less privileged countries. However, each country has a breaking point. This list only covers if you do not have a Bug-Out Location (BOL) or what you need to travel on foot to your BOL. And just for fun, I will also include extras to survive the Zombie Apocalypse (aka ZPOC/ZPAW). Although the ZPOC is more far fetched than other Natural and "The End of the World as We Know It” (TEOTWAWKI) disasters, a true off the grid self-sufficient survivalist (and family) prepares for everything. Yes some of my gear is expensive, your life depends on your survival skills, gear quality, and gear durability. As you become more proficient in your self-sufficient skills, you will no longer need some of this equipment. Also, take some self defense classes to keep physically and mentally in shape. My favorites are Kyokushinkai, Krav Maga, Jiu-Jitsu\Judo\Aikido, and Eskrima.
My firearms of choice that will help mitigate undesirables after diplomacy and/or bluffing fails (No way to add them to Listmania). Not everyone likes the same firearms and that is fine, however my list includes multi-role firearms and (1) back-up.:
1) Kel-Tec RFB (Rifle, Forward Ejection, Bullpup) – 7.62x51mm NATO or .308 Winchester,
Note: This list will be dynamic and hopefully changing for the better. I am going to create (2) more Listmania list covering books for BOLs and Survival. I would love to elaborate more but we have a limit in products and characters."
"(1 to 2 bottles) with the Hydrate or Die Logo - Make sure to get the extended plastic adapter as seen on the bladders and make sure to get the sports cap for a back-up. I chose the stainless steel over the bladders because of the chance of holes and no way to fix or repair it."
"Field cookware place holder. I do not want the Coleman product because it has too many pieces and does not have a high enough rating for me. Do not purchase so much gear that you can not walk or walk far. Do not purchase cheap gear because we are talking about survival and you will only be cheating your life. Purchase a quality 1 piece spoon-fork as your utensil."
"Ideally, you want military MREs because they contain more calories than civilian products. Carry enough for a few days out in the field then start hunting. Learn hunting skills before disaster strikes. There is plenty of information on the Internet regarding MREs. You can go longer without food but it is better not to be starving."
"Currently the best 4-season tent on Amazon designed for back-packing. Learn to make shelters out of nature is the best thing to do and this is an alternative and/or back-up. A camouflage tent cover\tarp would be a good accessory."
"Get two or one for each member of your team since they do not cost or weigh much. Learn the skill of fire making without technology. An alternative to primitive fire starting methods, you can carry some UCO Stormproof Matches in your BoB."
"If you have a solar panel, recharger, and rechargeable batteries, you can use the Garmin GPS 60CSx Handheld GPS Navigator. Make sure to master Land Nav with the compass just in case your GPS dies or the GPS satellites go offline. In addition, purchase topological maps of the US or the region you will be surviving in."
"To be worn with blue jeans, long\short sleeve shirt, and boots at the beginning stages of the panic and bugging out of the city. It would be better if you had a CCW license since this vest comes with a concealed weapons holster. Sorry for the small picture, Amazon changed the pictures."
"Or purchase similar socks in earth tones. Make sure they are cotton or mostly cotton because your feet will love you more. The military issued me wool socks and my feet hated me for it. Make sure to purchase about a week's worth."
"If you prefer, you can purchase the iPad or Galaxy Tab. I am only going to post quality and economical products as they become available or when I find them. I wish the tablet makers would make a field (bush, country side, camping, etc) version that would stand up to the environment and if possible, its own method (solar\etc) of charging its batteries."
"You should really have a portable Marine radio or military radio (AN\PRC-77 or better) after TEOTWAWKI because of range. During peace time and after you earn a license, use a portable HAM radio. Alternative to these are the noise canceling ear protection headphones that allow normal noise and radio communication but block out gunfire."
"Carl Zeiss is the best and you will pay for them. If you want night vision, the best is the AN\PVS-7 military grade night vision goggles or the AN\PVS-14 military grade scope which are easily in the $2K+ range. Here is a cheaper NV model - Night Owl Pro Nexgen Night Vision Binocular. All NV require batteries."
"For the Kel-Tec RFB and don't forget the mount. In addition, add the Kel-Tec picatinny accessory, tactical light, tactical sling, and suppressor (yes my LEO friends, with the ATF Class 3 Tax Stamp to make it legal). The sound (loud) and recoil is significantly reduced."
"At 9 pounds, I am not sure if I will have this in my foot BoB due to weight. I will have to test it out. This almost looks like the Hooligan's Tool with similar functionality and cheaper. Can be used in Melee, breaking into DESERTED buildings, and shutting off gas\water. An alternative is the Dead On Annihilator at 3+ pounds."
"Yes it is expensive but the Crossbow is accurate at a decent range. Good for hunting and sparing your ammunition when safe to do so. In addition it makes less noise. The reloading catch noise can be made silent by pushing down on the catch button (cam). Make sure to purchase the Tac-15i because it comes with a stock, the Tac-15 requires an AR-15 stock. Researching other models."
"Can be used in melee, to carve, to chop, and to hammer nails or stakes. I know I do not have the ultimate gear in zombie killing technology. However, I can guarantee most of the multiple weapon wielders are going to wish they had tools (weapons of opportunity) over their precious weapons. My tools will still dispatch the undesirables."
"Make sure to get a good sheath for it. This machete can be used for melee and survival. If you have the money, perhaps purchase the Cold Steel Kukri also sold on Amazon. By design, you can swing Kukris all day cutting down vegetation or undesirables after diplomacy (if any) has failed."
