As a student of the trumpet I love to play in brass ensembles. I play in a brass quintet and a brass choir, a brass band is like a brass choir only the band is usually larger. One of my biggest complaints about modern brass ensembles is that they don't play enough modern music, but with this CD full of original music Desford Colliery Band has played some very beautiful and sonorous music, showing off all the qualities of brass, smooth tone, large dynamic range, and etc. This is a great CD, I would recommend a lover of brass get it!

I have had bad exteriences with British Brass Band music before,and I had made my mind up that the sound was not in good taste for my ears. One day I was in the record shop and I picked this CD up and took it home.It took me a while to get it or should I say like it.CONNOTIONS IS ONE BEAUTIFUL PIECE OF MUSIC AND EDWARD HAS DONE A FINE THING WITH THIS TUNE. THE WHOLE CD IS VERY GOOD FOR MY EARS. I HOPE YOU FIND THE SAME THING AS I DID WHEN I GOT RID OF MY PREJUDIST ATTITUDE ABOUT THIS.I NOW HAVE ABOUT 15 TO 20 BRASS BAND CDs on the DOYEN LABLE ,THEY DO GOOD WORK IN THE UK @DOYEN
