NECA Gremlins Electronic Dancing Plush Doll Gizmo

I bought the dancing Gizmo for my 1 year old daughter. She is completely fascinated by a vintage plastic Gizmo that she saw at an antique toy show I took her to. Since the Gremlins movie has a special place in my heart from childhood(I still have my lunchbox), you can imagine my surprise and joy when my daughter saw the Plastic Gizmo, picked it up and proceeded to cradle it like a baby! The dancing Gizmo is a great product - it's the perfect size to put on a desk, shelf, etc. It is sound activated and sings just like the mogwai did in the movie. Also, it's not obnoxciously loud like some sound toys can be. Excellent product!

This toy is very cute, it's a plush toy with rubber hands, feet and face. It is about 8 inches tall, and it sings and dances. It's singing is triggered by sound, not by squeezing it.

This is the best gift to give to someone who loves the Gizmo character. He sings his signature song from the movie and does a little dance too. I think it's an ideal gift for collectors and fans of the movie. It definitely brings lots of joy.

Actually, this isn't the first mogwai I've owned, but it's certainly the best! I've never seen such an accurate looking Gizmo toy, and he even sings the same song from the film "Gremlins" (one bar sung twice in reaction to sound when Gizmo is switched on from the bottom). Gizmo's ears, hands, feet, eyes, nose, and mouth are hard plastic painted to look just as he does in the hit 1984 Spielberg film (directed by Joe Dante), and the rest of his body is plush (aside from the hard mechanical guts that allow him to rock from side to side (the "dancing" motion) covered in fur that matches the film Gizmo well. Gizmo looks and sounds fantastic. In fact, from a distance, he looks to be a near perfect replica, being basically life size and very well proportioned. He is absolutely too cool, and puts my old Gizmo Furby to shame (in fact, I think I might toss that one out now that I have this, especially since it may now have a broken muzzle like all the ones I used to see in stores; but man, the Christmas it came out, that sucker was hard to get). It's too bad this new Dancing Gizmo from Neca can't do all the things the old Furby could do, but the very fact that he looks exactly like Gizmo and sings the same tune from the film blows the old toy away. If I were to nitpick, I would only say that I wish Neca's Gizmo blinked his eyes as well, as that would have just been phenomenal in adding realism. I'd also say it would have been nice if he rocked a bit slower to match the tune he sings. Other wishes aren't worth mentioning, but those two tweaks would have been amazing.

The only complaint I could give about Gizmo as he is would be that I did have to groom him here and there, as his fur had some odd spots of glue crust and threads that needed plucking (there was actually an odd green thread below the mouth on one side that was the main issue), and that I had to apply a little pressure to the fur around the bottom of the mouth that was becoming just slightly unglued. That particular area is the weakest point visually, as close inspection makes it obvious that it is fake fur glued to a plastic mouth. Those slight issues aside (even though they shouldn't have come up), this is a MUST for any Gremlins fan, and he'll make all your old Gremlins merchandise obsolete. If you want to stop being an '80's kid packrat and own one definitive piece of Gremlins merchandise so you can clear out everything else, this is the Gizmo you need. He's sure to wow you if you're a Gizmo fan! I only wish I had him instead of the Gizmo Furby the year I went as Billy for Halloween! I'll have to do that again someday.

I'm glad I picked up this Dancing Gizmo, been wanting one for a few years now and finally bought it. Couldnt of picked out a better one!

I purchased this Gizmo for my granddaughter who recently had watched the movie. She loves it!!! She carrys it around and talks to it...

After years of the knock-off Furby finally we get a Gremlins toy. It doesn't have all the features of Furby but it looks just like the original Gizmo and he reacts to sound and touch which is all you really need to go along with a good imagination!

I think its really cute and looks a lot like Gizmo. But I was disappointed that all it did was sing and nothing else. I mean it rocks like he does in the movie. But the mouth doesn't move and the arms or legs don't move. The head I guess moves a little. I really like it but I guess I was hoping for something more of a Gizmo that is like the Furbys or FurReal animals. Now that would be a great toy. Having it move, talk, and sing like the realy Gizmo. Even have some of his cute facial expressions from the movie. It looks like the same size he really would be in the movie which I do love. I think more people would prefer to buy something more furby or furreal animal like. It would be like really having Gixmo just a much safer version then in the movie. lol

I got this toy for my wife as we are both huge fans of the movie. I got it for her to decorate her office desk. This looks great in the box, once you take it out, the dimensions are a little odd. The head is narrow and flat and the body is flat as well. The one we received had some matted fur and an odd dread-locked-ish strip of hair underneath one of the arms. There were parts of the fur that you wanted to be really soft, but it just wasn't.

The sound quality is pretty bad. It sounds like a very warped 45 record. I was hoping it would have a few different tracks, but only sings "The Mogwai" song, which is like a mix of high-pitched chirping and whistling. I like the song, but I would've liked more phrases. Howie Mandel's voice acting was the best part of Gizmo's personality.

The dancing... as my wife put it, it looks more like gyrating than dancing, but is still cute.

It's a good gift for the collector or fan of the movie, but I wouldn't expect any kid snuggling up with this toy at night, it has too many mechanical parts and is just not soft by any stretch.

I got this for my fiance who is a huge Gizmo fan. He loves it. The cute little head movements and humming is great. I wouldn't give it to kids to play with more of display only type toy. Gizmo also looked a little flat or smooshed to me but other than that it was great. I guess the only other "con" was he loved the gift so much I had to listen to the song over and over and it gets stuck in your head- a sign of a good gift.
