A Wonderful Book,
By Theseus "theseus" (US of A) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Greta Garbo: Portraits 1920 - 1951 (Paperback)
Rizzoli has done a very nice job assembling the professional portraits of Garbo from the age of 15 in Stockholm to a series of shots taken in the early 1950's.The often-reproduced classic images are here, of course, photographs by Steichen, Hurrell, and Beaton. However, there's a lot to feast your eyes on -- photographs of Garbo in character and of Garbo as Garbo -- 144 pages of b&w images, all of them full page. My personal favorites are the mature Garbo from 1951 shot by George Hoyningen-Huene. Trade paperback on heavy stock; 3 pounds; with a short biographical introduction. |
