After calibrating my LCD monitor with this small device all digital pictures - especially the ones coming directly from my Nikon Coolpix digital camera with embedded sRGB color profile and viewed in Photoshop CS2/Elements 3.0 - started looking so incredibly well that I wish I had bought this calibrator a long time ago.

Well, I actually bought it mainly because I use Photoshop to edit pictures that I shoot with Nikon N75 film camera. I scan developed film on Nikon Coolscan V ED film scanner. My digital workflow is fully color managed and my final result is a (picture) file prepared for a particular photo lab printer/paper combination using their color profile. Such file is printed "as is" with no adjustments/corrections so importance of being able to work with colors as close to reality as it can get is high.

Hardware. To calibrate an LCD monitor one simply hangs colorimeter's USB cable over the top of the monitor with a balancing weight attached to the cord on other side. This makes the colorimeter stay on screen surface without putting any pressure to it.

Software. The EyeOne 1 comes with older version of software. Fear not, one can download the latest-greatest version from the manufacturer's website for free. The older version is in my humble opinion kind of limited in features. The newer one is great though.

Calibration. The whole procedure took me around 10 min to complete first time. I had to do it twice to get it right but with experience it should be very easy actually. The software is *very* user-friendly.

Even though GRETAG MACBETH sells their second-generation system now I find this particular calibrator more than adequate for my use. Excellent product.

I've used on my Mac and my PC. I've used with LCD and CRT Monitors. Results have been good. Great for the price.
