5.0 out of 5 stars Lightning strikes twice!
The magic from the first "Grey's Anatomy" soundtrack is just as strong here! Sincere, sexy, beautiful, graceful, spunky, smart: this album is too good for mere words. It may not be as introspective or moody as say Meredith or season one's album, but the liner notes say it best when they refer to the music as "deep, rabid, scary, not-cute and obsessive."

2.0 out of 5 stars not at all what I hoped
My wife and I are big fans of Grey's and the music we hear on the show. I dont know if the cd just doesnt fit without the show in the foreground, but we both were very disappointed at this CD.

The magic from the first "Grey's Anatomy" soundtrack is just as strong here! Sincere, sexy, beautiful, graceful, spunky, smart: this album is too good for mere words. I guarantee you'll get goosebumps and completely dig the music therapy being offered. I can back my overzealous plug 100 percent so let's get started.(Forgive me in advance if I take the "quick notes" approach here...I picked my top 13 favorite songs and couldn't go any lower because it's just so hard!)

1) "How to Save a Life" by the Fray--a perfect and lovely companion to Snow Patrol's "Chasing Cars," the song that closes everything. Very few soundtracks bookend so well. I think more films could take their cues from television when it comes to setting the musical tone.

2)"War on Sound" by Moonbabies--lots of teasing rhythm and echoes of a great 80s group called China Crisis.

3)"I Me You" by Jim Noir--offers a nice 60s flair while keeping a modern touch. Sweet and romantic without losing its edge.

4)"Kaboom!" by Ursula 1000-outrageously right with shades of martini music and Austin Powers...adorably goofy!!

5)"Miss Halfway" by Anya Marina--opens with a line that is both brilliant and sad ("You ought to hear the mirror in my house.") Though the theme is probably familiar to any woman who has ever doubted herself, the spirit is one of quiet rebellion and wit! Awesome, awesome song!!

6)"Multiply" by James Lidell--slow and sexy with real bite. Imagine if Terence Trent D'Arby decided to go 60s soul! (Okay, that reference might be a little dated. Sorry!)

7)"Universe and U" by KT Tunstall--vulnerability at its best with gravel and attitude...You'll be catching your breath from wonder at this point!

8)"Monster Hospital" by Metric--deliciously wicked, deliciously wicked!! Metric provides the kind of energy that drives you all night, with all of its beats behind the great line "I fought the war and the war won." I can't think of a better song to match the "it's the hardest job there is, but I won't give up" approach doctors and nurses need in the ER.

9)"How We Operate" by Gomez--exposed and honest, a huge favorite of mine, but then every track here seeps into my skin.

10)"Grace" by Kate Havnevik--wow!!!...a gorgeous ballad with so much emotion at stake only the cello can back it up with dignity. Best line: "turn your grief into grace." For some reason I'm reminded of "A Different Corner" by George Michael.

11)"Sexy Mistakes" by The Chalets--asks the question, "What's a girl to do?" I'll tell you right now. She listens to this fantastic head banger of a song and doesn't care if people are staring at her when she stops at a traffic light!

12)"Bound by Love" by Gran Bel Fisher--pretty. Okay, I'm running out of appropriate adjectives here, but it IS pretty in an 80s meets the 00s kind of way.

13)"I Hate Everyone" by Get Set Go--clever, funny and absolutely perfect for listening to during rush hour on a Monday morning. Did I say I love, love, love this album?

I could go on (and on) but I'll spare you. I am completely saturated in the best ways possible with every note from every song--for the sake of going to sleep I beg Shonda Rimes and Betsy Beers to take a break from being so good at picking out the music for this wonderful show! To quote something from track number eight, "Stop, for the love of God!"

Too bad I already downloaded the half of the CD,but I bought it just in case, because a couple of it were made exclusively for the CD.And it's even better than the first one which I love.
Of course some masterpieces are missing like sad eyes by josh rouse and scratch by kendall payne, but nothing's perfect:
how to save a life - great start,great song.5/5
war on sound - great follow up to how to save a life and great song as well.5/5
i me you - funny little song, reminds me of the beach boys.Nice.4.5/5
kaboom! - another funny song, makes me wanna laugh.4/5
miss halfway - one of my favorites, even better than demo version I had.5/5
multiply - already knew it but it's a good choice for the CD.Some rythme and blues influence.4.5/5
universe and U - I prefer the version from her great album.3/5
monster hospital - very good choice,a little beat to cheer up.4.5/5
how we operate - not the best one from their new album but suits the spirit of the show.4.5/5
grace - a simple and gorgeous song from the scene everyone's been waiting for on season 2.5/5
sexy mistake - my other favorite, makes you wanna turn it up and dance.5/5
bound by love - beautiful love song, not special, just what you expect.4.5/5
I hate everyone - love the song,it lyrics,the singer's voice and the music itself,perfect.5/5
homebird - nice but nothing much.3.5/5
chasing cars - more intimate than the original version.A good way to finish the CD with.4.5/5
What else can I say,JUST BUY IT.You won't regret,I promise.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good - But The First Was Better, September 13, 2006
By
This review is from: Grey's Anatomy 2 (Audio CD)
After a much anticipated wait, this is excellent compulation of songs, although some do shine a bit more than others, as is the case with such things. I am very disappointed that Anna Nalick's Breathe (2 AM)is not included on this disc. That was one of the most intense scenes of the second season, and that song added so much feeling to it. It is a fun CD, looking forward to future volumes to come!!

5.0 out of 5 stars I Me You I'm Your, December 16, 2006
This review is from: Grey's Anatomy 2 (Audio CD)
Snow Patrol and The Fray play on the radio station constantly, but like most who want to reach a little deeper into the musical world, some songs are best when considered within a musical mood. The Grey's Anatomy 2 provides such an intimate escape.

How to Save a Life has a deeper intimacy and Chasing Cars is perfect as the final track. Somehow, these two songs sound better on the CD than on the radio. It is the context and the story within which the songs appear that enhances the experience.

Jim Noir's "I Me You I'm Your" is playful, but retains a certain mystery within a kissing on a shaggy carpet mood. Kaboom expands the playfulness and takes off into a funky freedom. KT Tunstall and Kate Havnevik add beautiful emotional dimensions and KT has a new exquisite clarity in her voice in "Universe & U." The lyrics show her profound insight into the invisible:

"We are just the same
I can feel everything you do
Hear everything you say
Even when you're miles away
Coz I am me, the universe and you"

The warmth continues with Gomez and a dangerous edgy tension that breaks into a dark sensuality. Most of the music on this CD has exciting dimensions in sensuality and intimacy with meaningful lyrics.

"There are bonds that set us free
For all to be who they want to be
Heads held high for all to see
You and me baby bound by love"

"Bound by Love" is acoustically beautiful and makes me feel a musical high. "I Hate Love" is lighter and more comical/realistic/silly than the more dreamy sensual side of life and is the song that seems most like it doesn't fit in with the rest of the selections because it breaks some of the mood created by the rest of the songs that seem to flow in a unity of perception.

This CD has some really great songs. Songs that i'd never heard before from artists that i hadn't heard of. After listening to the CD a bunch of times I looked up the artists' other songs and now i have a bunch of new favroite bands.

I enjoy this montage of songs from my favorite show. I wish more of the slower/laid back songs would have made it though. Still, it is one of the first CDs I turn to when I want a variety of music to listen to.

If it is possible, I think that the soundtracks for this show just keep getting better! Again with the variety being a big plus. I have all three of my kids listening to these soundtracks now! Can't wait for the next one!!!
