Book Description

March 9, 2008
Grey's Anatomy: An Unauthorized View from the Other Side is an analysis of the metaphors, symbolism, and major story arcs in the first three seasons of the hit television show Grey's Anatomy. This book was written by fans of Grey's Anatomy for other fans of Grey's Anatomy. It is not authorized by the ABC network, creators or producers of Grey's Anatomy, or any entity associated with the Grey's Anatomy series. Did you ever wonder why the creators of Grey's Anatomy included a pony birth in the story lines of Season 2? What episode introduced the metaphor of the bank robbery that ended with Dr. Burke needing a "getaway car" in the Season 3 finale? What symbolism underlies Derek's choice of Museli over cupcakes for breakfast in Season 1? Why did Denny Duquette have to die? Which character represented the cowardly lion from the Wizard of Oz? The answers to these and many other questions are provided in this straight forward, easy to read, fan's guide to understanding Grey's Anatomy.

I don't have a lot to say about this book. It's a bit overpriced - especialy compared to the Ben Bella book, which I haven't read yet.

This appears to have been a self-publish.

I've read some somewhat scholarly writings on pop culture (mostly Buffy) and all of it was easier to read than this.
If you're writing for the public, you might want to dial it down a notch. (Is "nickels" even a real term for a group of five *anything*?)

Introduction to Symbolism (a real chapter title) is a bit condescending (as a title).

Aside from this, there were few outright errors (other than typos and spelling errors). 97 percent of the book's *facts* (not the interpretations thereof) are correct.

The thing which frustrated me most was the inability to feedback the authors (on the other 3%) - the book's website/domain is no longer active, after just a year, which is sad. There's no publishing company to write to.
So here's the scoops, authors, if you should read this.

Meredith and Lexie are in no way "only a year apart in age" - since Thatch and Ellis didn't divorce till Mer was about 5.
and
What is this about George sniffing nitrous oxide? The thing he and Mer did that was questionable in episode two was to go look at the babies in the nursery.

Aside from those errors and the density of the material, the book was okay, but not nearly as good as any of the scholarly collections I've read on Buffy.

Target doesn't carry size 11 in these sandals so I bought a 10, they're a bit small so they're not very comfortable to me. But they're really cute.
