5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent free logic puzzle series from Amazon Services. September 22, 2011
A classic logic puzzle gives a list of clues, from which you much make a deduction. One of the best known is the "Who is the Engineer?" puzzle.

On a train, Smith, Robinson, and Jones are the fireman, brakeman, and the engineer, but NOT respectively. Also aboard the train are three businessmen who have the same names: a Mr. Smith, a Mr. Robinson, and a Mr. Jones.
1. Mr. Robinson Lives in Detroit.
2. The brakeman lives exactly halfway between Chicago and Detroit
3. Mr. Jones earns exactly $20,000 per year.
4. The brakeman's nearest neighbor, one of the passengers, earns exactly three times as much as the brakeman.
5. Smith beats the fireman in billiards.
6. The passenger whose name is the same as the brakeman's lives in Chicago.

Grid Detective would classify this one as Easy. In 30 excellent puzzles, a Gridwork is given with the relevant names, wages, colors, cities, or hobbies, and the cursor can mark X or O on the various squares to make deductions.

A trainer puzzle is given at the start. After that, there are 10 Easy, 10 Moderate, and 10 Hard puzzles.

5.0 out of 5 stars Warning.... Addictive! September 24, 2011
Verified Purchase
Remember the old DELL Logic books? The ones where you wore through the page erasing your marks?

Imagine....

An electronic version, using X and O, and auto populating the rest of the spaces with shading or the appropriate X each time you correctly figure out a clue. If you enjoyed the paper version, you'll LOVE this game.

Easy to navigate on the Kindle. X for "not an option" O for "correct answer", Space bar deletes what you have put into the square. PAGE forward to move to the next clue (which highlights the clue you are working on.)

Great Kindle distraction!

NOTE: update 10/2/11: This game will download to the new ($79) Kindle (many will not... see my review), and the 5 way can be used for the X and O (middle button with either single or double clicks. (12/26/11: but it is not ported to either the Kindle Touch or Kindle Fire).

Enjoy!

I always buy the logic problem puzzles and so when this free game came along I grabbed it. I love it, especially the fact that you csan erase and start over without destroying the paper grid :). If you like logic puzzles you will love this.

2.0 out of 5 stars Buggy October 23, 2011
This game started out great. I loved playing these kinds of puzzles when I was a kid. I was loving this, until I waited a couple days to come back to it after finishing about half of the puzzles. My place had been lost, all progress erased, and I had to start all over at the beginning. So I started at the end and worked my way backward instead. The next day yielded the same results. No history of me even having played. I deleted the game, and now my kindle loads faster than when the game was on it. Go figure.

5.0 out of 5 stars addictive October 6, 2011
This is the thinking woman's crack. Couldn't stop. Wanted more.. more.. more! Tried to go cold turkey but found the only way to stop was to finish all the puzzles. I did. Now I am sad.

Alright, Amazon, now I'm hooked and there is only one title available. I bought three of the "Logic Puzzles by the Dozen" series only to discover (not having read the reviews) that they are not Kindle interactive. We need more like this one. Anyone listening?????

5.0 out of 5 stars Logic puzzles without all the writing! September 25, 2011
Verified Purchase
I've always loved this type of logic puzzles, but always hated filling out the grids. One misplaced "x" could derail your whole solution. And making revisions always became messy.

This version for the Kindle makes marking and correcting MUCH easier. When you find the correct answer for one of the items, you can just mark it, and the corresponding x's are automatically filled in for you! I have not made my way through all of the puzzles yet, but I look forward to it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Game November 16, 2011

As a fan of logic puzzles I was a bit skeptical that these would meet my expectations. However, they were terrific. I just wish there was more of them. I have already solved all the puzzles and can't wait for more to be available.

Grid Detective -- free Kindle game
I hope we see more! My only complaint about Grid Detective is there weren't enough puzzles. Yes I know it was free :) This is me looking a gift horse in the mouth.

No Grid Detective for Kindle Fire
I wrote a similar app with some friends for the Kindle Fire, and Amazon has finally approved it. 1.4 is now released, and it should fix display issues and puzzle answer issues from the previous versions. Looking forward to community feedback.

Thanks!
