That is not a typo in the name; this game is not about words to the wise. We, the players, are the wise ones. In this game players are challenged to come up with words as the fast-paced game speeds along. We must find words, alphabetically, to match categories. Category cards tell you to name, e.g. movies, trees, emotions, flavors and so much more. How about cars? Audi, Bentley, Cadillac, Dodge, and on through the alphabet. Stuck? Not to worry. If you have a Wise Alec card you can use it to skip one letter ahead, repeat letter used before, pass, and even one that lets you use the letter to end the word. So if you need a car with the letter U, laugh it off. Wise Alec permits you to say Suburu, instead. Yes, it calls for quick thinking but isn't that what word games are all about? Cards list categories in English, French, German and Spanish, with appropriate instructions (but we stick with English; my second language is Pig Latin!). This compact game is good to go so travel with it and play solitaire while waiting for your plane to take off! We've played this game over and over and something new is always coming up, along with laughter and players moaning after they miss something "so simple".

We recently picked up Words of the Wise and loved it! It's a use-your-brain game using the ABC's to come up with as many words alphabetically as you can, based on the topic.

You can play individually, with a group, or in teams, which makes it the idea game for families, or your favorite teacher. Each topic point value changes based on difficulty level. We started with "Food", so it was fun to hear my kids zip through apples, bananas, candy and donuts, but the best part was when they got to "Q" and "X" -then I got to shout out quail eggs! We even found them at our local supermarket on our next visit!!! We did search for an "X" food and found xylocarp, but since we'd never heard of it, we skipped it. Other categories include "Sea Life," "Transportation," "Companies," "TV Characters," and lots more worth between 10 and 50 points.

The game also has Wise Alec cards that allow you to skip turns, pass, skip letters and several other options as well.

It's definitely a bonus when you can find a game that works with a multi-aged group - plus, we're taking a long road-trip this summer, so the cards will be great non-electronic entertainment.

This is the game we take with us everytime we head out for a long car ride! Doing your ABC in a round robin doesn't sound too challenging but we were surprised how much brain twisting we had to do. There are lots of topics to pick from with different difficulties assigned. We leveled the playing field by giving different targets to see who would win.

When it was my turn and it said girl's names, I took the challenge approach and ran through all the girls names from A-Z - and got to steal the points! My youngest got us when he challenged us all to a speed round on a different topic. We enjoyed that there were a few ways to play this game.

It is also in 4 different laungages so we tried to learn how to say everything in the Spanish, French and even German!

This is a game we don't get tired playing! Two thumbs up!

Great little game to get the kids minds churning. They are challenged to think of alphabetical answers to a given topic. Great for multiple skill levels and easy to play!
