This review is from: Grief and Loss: Theories and Skills for Helping Professionals (Paperback)
I'm lucky enough to have studied Loss & Grief at Springfield College, with Kathy Walsh as my instructor. She is an amazing woman and so down to earth; she has served as the president of the National Association of Oncology Social Workers (one of only two to serve a two year term), does remarkable work at the CancerConnection in Northampton, has a private practice, and is a tenured professor at the school of social work where I'm pursuing my Master's.

It's not often that the text the professor has written is the one you'd enjoy reading, but this definitely is a clear illustration of when it is. The text is set up in a remarkably organized fashion. Resources and references are easily found at the end of each chapter. The text is not overwhelmingly lengthy, nor too short or vague. It's just set up really well, is clear and concise, and is accessible to students/workers of almost all levels of academic competency. This is definitely one you won't want to sell back when the course ends. I've found it a great starting place for research in other classes I've taken since the one requiring the text.

It's a very well written text that helps you get familiar with the terminology, theory, evidence based practice, and strengths perspective on micro, mezzo, and macro levels. Highly recommended. Much more valuable than the cost of the text.

I found the book very easy to read and it was written in such a way that the theories understandable, even when thoroughly exhausted when reading it. I would recommend this book for an overall introduction into this topic. It was a very helpful resource.
