5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely spectacular!, January 11, 2011

This review is from: Grieving: The Pain and the Promise (Paperback)
This is one of the only books which deals with grief in a manner in which actual comfort and practical suggestions are given from within its pages. I am Deanna's son, and you see, we lost her on 29 December 2010, last week, have only now been reading my own mother's book for help from her death and can attest to the facts written by the other reviewers here. It's even available for $0.01 on Amazon! What the heck? If I didn't have my free copy given to me by my mother years ago, I would gladly spend a penny plus postage for this treasured jewel. She touched and comforted the lives of thousands during her brief 67 years on this earth, and much of it is documented in this book. You may think me jaded toward an opinion, but please read the opinions of others. It is truly a gold mine. Please read its pages and be comforted, especially if you have a grieving process to go through. Deanna will never disappoint, I promise you. If you don't trust my point of view, because of my closeness to her, at least please consider what others have to say. Good-bye, mum! I love you! Thank you for your tremendous gifts of writings and music to the world! I know and can personally attest to comfort given to me. Anyone with any questions can feel free to contact me through e-mail, sre.1966@gmail.com, Shon Edwards.

5.0 out of 5 stars Grieving, April 11, 2006
This book offers concrete help and valuable suggestions to all who grieve or yearn to help a loved one who is grieving. It answers practical questions such as: What is grief work? What is the process of grief? and How can I help a loved one who is hurting? You will be comforted to learn that grieving is a valid and honorable task, not to be ignored, and that tears do not show a lack of faith.

At last, here is a book giving practical guidelines to help us prepare for and work through losses of every kind so that we can survive hard times emotionally as well as spiritually.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Comfort, February 5, 2011

This review is from: Grieving: The Pain and the Promise (Paperback)
I try to keep some copies of this book on hand because it is perfect for when you don't know what to say to someone who has experiences a loss by death. It is good at all stages of grieving and is even helpful years later as I have learned from personal experience. It doesn't need to be read from cover to cover. You can just pick it up and read at random and find answers and comfort. A sad note is that Deannna Edwards just recently passed away at a relatively young age because of illness. I will miss whatever further contributions she might have made to all of us. I also hope that her family will continue to make this book and her other books available to those of us who have found her writting and wisdom so valuable in our lives. I am sorry for their personal loss.

After our son died unexpectedly, I read many books about grieving. This book was given to me and was the book that helped me the most. I have in turn shared this book with many people who have also grieved a loved one. I would highly recommend this book.

This review is from: Grieving: The Pain and the Promise (Paperback)
After losing my father to advanced colon cancer, my cousin gave me this book. It is a practical, easy-to-read guide to going through the grieving process. For me, it was like being thrown a life-jacket in a river - - - it literally saved my life. I have since purchased it and given it to my friends after they have lost loved ones.
