Fallin apart in less than 3 months.,
This review is from: Griffin AeroSport Armband Case for iPod touch 2G, 3G (Black) (Electronics)
I purchased this armband at a major (now closed) big box technology store and liked the fact that the screen was completely covered, but was ambivalent about the head phone holder. I was worried about the material at the opening of the case, itself. It appeared thin, and I thought it would quickly tear as I inserted and removed my Touch. I should note that I only use this case and armband when I go on my runs.
However, it was not the case that tore, but a backing on the armband that covers the plastic clip that began to fall apart. It appears that the protective fabric behind the clip (which forms a barrier between your arm and a plastic clip that holds the iPod Touch case to the armband) was glued into place. After less than 15 runs, my sweat appears to have broken down the glue and the backing has pulled away. Every time I put the armband on now, I have to futz with the cover to make sure it goes back into the right area. I plan to purchase a new armband as soon as possible, and I do NOT recommend this to anyone that wants to run or exercise.

My girlfriend and I run 3 miles every morning. After one month, the backing behind where the iPod Touch sits started to come "un-glued" on both of ours. If this is seriously a sport armband, what kind of testing did they do? The thing fell apart so quickly. Any testing would have figured this out.
They must know people sweat becuse the entire unit seems to be covered so sweat will not destroy the iPod. If you don't sweat and dont run, buy it but if you plan on being somewhat active, get a different one. I am doing that now. I hope they will accept my return.

This is a small, light case, and if you plan to use it as a sleeve to protect your iPod, it's okay. Not great, but okay. Easy access to all buttons and jacks.
But if you want to insert and remove your iPod, reconsider. It's tight, and the plastic adheres to the screen. You get ugly bubbles if you don't get it positioned just right, and it will slip back to the ugly bubbles over short periods of time. If you want to remove the iPod, put it on your calendar as it takes a while to work it back out. The rubber grommet around the slit for inserting the case started coming off within a week. The inner lining on the armband came loose (no way to reattach) after 2 months. It's great to be able to easily remove the armband, but be careful to get it attached right or the case can fall off. It only happened to me once, but I never felt that I trusted it after that. I did find it useful for easily sticking it in my pocket or in the glove box of my car without worrying about the screen. But I've replaced it with DLO sport case after only 3 months, and am much happier with the new one.

Good Armband Case at a Great Price,

I nosed around for iPod Touch 2G compatible armbands and, based on reviews and price, decided to take a shot on this one. I like it as it is very durable and instills confidence that the iPod is good and secure while I work out.
My only gripes about the product are minor. The armband starts out sitting comfortably on my arm, but it starts to chafe a little after about 20 minutes of activity and sweat. I can put it over my shirt sleeve, but I find that a bit binding. The other gripe is that the heavy duty plastic screen protector can be a real impediment as the response to some of the touchscreen commands (such as deleting a file when finished) is sluggish and can require multiple attempts. However, it is "heavy duty" for a reason and while I get occasionally frustrated with sluggish touch controls, I would rather feel confident that the device is getting adequate protection. All in all I like it and am satisfied with the value for money paid.

As soon as I got it I noticed how well made this is and the texture of the fabric is 1st QUALITY! To be honest I was expecting a cheap rubber/silicon case with a lousy strap, but, boy was I wrong...
Dont hesitate on buying this if you need multi-facet use for it, the belt, arm clip is strong and it keeps your Ipod Touch 2G secure in all positions. Great product! Thanks Amazon!

complete junk...don't endanger your precious gear,
This review is from: Griffin AeroSport Armband Case for iPod touch 2G, 3G (Black) (Electronics)
This is a total and utter piece of junk from griffin. I'm somewhat surprised as what they make is usually pretty good. I have only had this for about a week and initially i liked the streamlined design. It looks fabulous. I had misgivings about the belt clip though, as it is not securely attached (or even really attached at all) to the case but just sort of loops through a belt hole like opening in the back and precariously hangs on by a lip on the clip about 2mm wide.( i know...it sounds crazy but its true. It's an accident waiting to happen.)
Well anyway, tonight my worst fear about this one came true as I was talking with a friend after classes in the evening and stood up from my seat. I heard a clunk on the ground next to me and there it was... my brand new i touch still encased but without clip (which was still attached to my belt). Luckily it seems to be unharmed and my friends tell me that these babies can take alot more damage than it looks like. Still, the case did not serve the function it was designed for. It is also so flimsy that when I went to take it off to put my other more sturdy and reliable (although not as streamlined and cool looking) marware neoprene wetsuit case, it just tore right down the left seam; and believe me, I was being very gentle with it. All in all I must say this case is a total disappointment. The only upside to it is it really does look nice and is quite cheap but I would never endanger my precious pod again by encasing it in such a weak, poorly made piece of garbage. When dealing with such treasured gear, protection is the foremost issue. Stick with clunkier better designed cases if you don't want the kind of bummer trip I had to through tonight when the griffin aerosport failed.

everything is awesome.
you can use this as a belt clip, regular case, and arm band. the screen protector is really nice too. the only thing that bugs is is that if you want to switch cases for your itouch its kind of hard because this case is kind of tight. but that shouldn't be reason not to buy it because its pretty awesome.

This is the first review I've ever written on Amazon, but I needed to let people who might be thinking about buying this thing to look at other options. I had the same problem other reviewers have had: I wore the armband only for workouts (weight lifting and running), and whether it was my sweat or the friction of the armband moving up and down ever so slightly while I ran, the fabric that covered the plastic clips on back side of the armband came unglued after about seven weeks. One week after that, the armband snapped in two while I was trying to put it on my arm.
The best thing I could say about it is that the headphone cord management was a nice touch, even if it could have been implemented slightly better. The sleeve that holds the iPod itself is still marginally useful if I hang it on my waistband, but overall this product was a huge disappointment.

Not made for the Ipod Touch,

This armband is one of the most infuriating products I have ever bought. It seems like the manufacturer didn't even bother to test the product on an ipod touch. They didn't even create a hole for the earbuds, you'll have to do that yourself. In addition, the fit is so tight that it constantly messes with the sound, causing the ipod to skip. Nothing will piss you off more during a workout. To top it all off, the front cover became warped after only 1 use, so it can be very difficult to even work the ipod. This is a huge piece of crap, and I strongly suggest that the manufacturer tryout the product they are supposed to be making a case for next time.

wore this for first 7 minutes of my bike ride, when the case flew across the road. I was on a street, headed slightly downhill, picking up speed but very smoothly. There were no jerks or major bumps, and I had not been riding long at all - less than a mile! Very disappointed - it's completely unacceptable for any sort of sports band to detach so easily. I immediately put the case and phone in my pocket for the remainder of my ride then returned it immediately when I got home. Luckily my device was mostly fine.
I can't recommend this for anyone that will be running or riding with it, and the rest of the behavior (touch through screen, cable winder, etc) is irrelevant when it doesn't serve it's primary purpose. For anyone wondering, it also does not fit the 3GS or 3G iPhones well, though they can be squeezed in. The manufacture quality is also low, it had some parts coming loose when we first opened the package. The case clips onto the armband, however it is not held snuggly at all. In my case, with no warnings or even noticing the case starting to feel loose, it suddenly detached and flew free of the armband. |
