Not for video iPod,
By
This review is from: Griffin Black iTrip FM Transmitter for iPod (Electronics)
This will not work with video iPod. The video iPod does not have the power source next to the audio out like all the other iPods. The video iPod only has the audio out (headphone jack).

This item does not work with the IPod Nano - even though it was advertised by Amazon as being compatible with the Nano.

A 3rd generation iPod owner's review,
This review is from: Griffin Black iTrip FM Transmitter for iPod (Electronics)
I purchased the iTrip as a replacement for my much cheaper, much less efficient FM transmitter.
The iTrip is definately the best on the market. It has the most available channels, and it doesn't get staticy as much as other trnasmitters do. However, the battery in my iPod was running roughly 7 hours of life maximum, and the iTrip drained it significantly. It would only be able to run for about an hour before dying. Overall, it's the best choice, as long as your battery life isn't diminishing.

Worth the money...so convenient.,

You cannot beat this item for the price. I live on the north side of Chicago, where seemingly ever FM station picks up some signal, and this transmitter works perfectly. I tried the stations that the ITrip Station Finder recommended for my area, and I ended up back at the default 87.9 because it comes in flawlessly. The only drawback is that it does drain the battery a little faster, but you could always pick up a cheap car charger if you have a long trip planned. The best feature is that is so small and lightweight, which makes it amazingly convenient to travel with, so much better than all the cords and plugs that are usually associated with FM transmitters.

No problems on East Coast,

This review is from: Griffin Black iTrip FM Transmitter for iPod (Electronics)
I think this is the best product in this market space. I live in the DC-area and travel quite a bit to New York. The iTrip works just as good on the Beltway as it doed on the Belt Parkway. All I do is keep it on 87.9 since that is not a legal frequency in the US. Since my car's Bose stereo can tune into 87.9, it just works. The only areas I've experienced problems are near the White House and some of the streets (not avenues) in midtown Manhattan. Otherwise, it is worth the price!

Great item. Cost 6 dollars less than white version. Is the extra 6 dollars a fee for color coordination? Love it. Works everywhere...office, car , home....Get it now...

Does not work with 120 GB Ipod Classic,
By LBG (Los Angeles, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Griffin Black iTrip FM Transmitter for iPod (Electronics)
Amazon advertises the tranmitter with the 120 GB Ipod Classic but it is not compatible.
Amazon also shows it as Frequently Bought Together. The connections on top of the Ipod do not match those of the transmitter.

spotty,
This review is from: Griffin Black iTrip FM Transmitter for iPod (Electronics)
I always used the default 87.9 MHz. Changing to and from other frequencies was too much of a hassle. 87.9 works out okay in San Francisco and the rest of the Bay Area.
But it really depends on how good your car radio is. I've had friends say that theirs doesn't work on theirs, but works on others.

Average Sound, Terrible Interface,
By
This review is from: Griffin Black iTrip FM Transmitter for iPod (Electronics)
The Griffin iTrip is nearly identical to any other FM transmitter for portable audio devices, except that it draws its power from the iPod instead of from a separate battery. Also, one cannot change the broadcast frequency from the unit itself--this is done through the iPod interface.
Most people who I know that have bought an iTrip have done so because they want to listen to their iPods in the car, and they don't have a tape deck for a tape adapter. The only problem is if you're driving by yourself on a long-ish trip through populated areas (such as, say, San Diego to Los Angeles), the abandoned frequencies vary rapidly, and it's necessary to change the broadcast station on your iTrip. Unfortunately, this is nearly impossible, because it requires total concentration to change the broadcast station. After using this product for several months, I could not recommend it whole-heartedly. The sound can never be better than FM radio anyway, so I'd direct people to purchase other FM transmitters with an easier interface.

This also works with 5th Generation Video,

However I have the while iTrip because black was sold out. This work very well. The sound is very good and remember you can tweak the EQ settings of your iPod to make the sound different, I use the Bass Booster alot so it sounds slightly louder and it does not sacrafice quality of sound. The iTrip fits nicely into the iPod and does not wiggle around or loosen and it is not bulky. It's very small and hardly noticible! I love it.
