2nd Generation Shuffle Owner,
By
This review is from: Griffin Dock Adapter for iPod shuffle 2G (White) (Electronics)
I wanted an I-pod for Christmas and received the 2nd generation Shuffle from my family (this is the very small Shuffle that has a clip on the back). When it came to listening to it in my office I was limited to just speakers. After looking on Amazon I discovered the docking adapter that makes it easy to use one of the I-pod speaker docks that many retailers sell. It works great and I can listen to my I-pod during the day and with a flip of the switch on the adapter I am able to charge it at night! Great product and highly recommended.

The little guy does just what it is supposed to do in my Bose SoundDock series II: allow me to play my 2nd generation shuffle. It even charges the shuffle.

Apple iPod Shuffle Dock - Expensive, Works On Many Docks But Not All,
This review is from: Griffin Dock Adapter for iPod shuffle 2G (White) (Electronics)
The Griffin Dock Adapter for the 2G iPod shuffle allows you to *dock* your Apple iPod Shuffle into most universal docks. For the reasons of cost I may have been too harsh on this guy. It does work. But some docks may be designed in slightly different ways. And with the changes Apple seems to constantly make to its dock standard it may not work on every dock.
For players like the iPod Shuffle and other MP3 players connecting with a standard aux cable is probably the safest bet. This provides an alternaitve to those whose aux ports are in use or who want to quickly dock their shuffles into a few docks. Most iPod docks have line-in or auxilliary ports, but not all do. Some people also have dedicated their ports to other mp3 players so being able to dock the shuffle may be a convenience for some. Truthfully, two ports should be standard on any dock. This guy fills the void for iPod shuffle owners who want to dock their shuffle or have iPod docks without extra ports. Apple usually provides dock adapters for their players, but the Shuffle is the exception since it comes without the proprietary iPod dock interface. This one basically has a slightly modified headphone style port. So installing it with the adapter is basically plugging it in to the port and then seating it into the dock. To me this unit still seems overpriced, but in fairness that's probably because of the small market for this product. The strange thing about this device is really the fact that it works with some docks and not others. Apple has changed their universal dock standard a few times and perhaps that explains it. Certain brands of docks seem not to work consistently either. Just keep in mind, this dock adapter is pretty mindless. If this doesn't work for you, it's likely due to the the way the dock port is configured rather than this adapter. Make sure you have seated your player into the adapter properly and dock it carefully. So if you want to dock your shuffle this provides an alternative to the standard aux cable connection. It's worth giving this a try even though it may not work with every dock. Be warned, and make sure to test it right away so that you can return it if it doesn't work. Enjoy!

Able to use with ipod shuffle 4th gen,

This review is from: Griffin Dock Adapter for iPod shuffle 2G (White) (Electronics)
I have an ipod shuffle 4th gen and I figured that it would not fit this adapter, and I was correct. So I purchased this product in conjunction with the iLuv iEA15WHT iPod Remote and it works great. I have not tried using the charge feature of this dock adapter and I do not plan to since it is not meant to be compatible with the 4th gen. But I am now able to play my shuffle through my Sony stereo system which has an ipod dock.

Small simple device that allows you to play your shuffle in a number of ipod clock radios, etc. It was also a welcome present for other relatives with shuffles that had a similar iHome radio, etc at bedside or in the bathroom that were able to add the shuffle player to their daily routine.

it works!,

This product really came in handy for me. I inherited an old bose sounddock from a friend, and wanted a way to use it with my creative zen player, because the sounddock has no aux input and only works with docking ipods. The Griffin Dock Adapter allows me to connect the zen's headphone socket, or any other device with such audio output, into the sounddock. I only needed an additional 1/8" audio adapter so the zen could reach the jack on the dock completely, which I got from radioshack for a few bucks. Great product.

I was excited to find an adapter, Griffin Dock Adapter for iPod shuffle 2G (White) for my ipod shuffle that would work in my ipod dock....It fit perfectly into my dock and the charging side of it worked great...But when I toggled over to the audio side...Nothing...It does not play the ipod music....I sent the first one back and received a second one with the same issues....The dock itself is fine because I can play my iphone in it....I can see why Griffin quit making this product...It simply is a waste of time....I can charge my ipod on my computer...I just really wanted to hear my ipod tunes....Don't buy it....They are a rip off!!

Allows for use of any 3.5mm input!!,

I bought this product because I was in need of new computer speakers and I had a Bose Sound Dock that was used twice a year. With this adapter and a 3.5 mm extension I now have a really good set of computer speakers.
Con: Slight feedback noise. Only heard at higher volumes, so not a big deal at all. If you have Bose SoundDock 1st gen this will work.

Doesn't work with Alpine Car Stereo,
This review is from: Griffin Dock Adapter for iPod shuffle 2G (White) (Electronics)
I have an Alpine car stereo that has the ability to control an IPod through the face. I have a regular IPod and a Shuffle. I was hopeing to use this little adapter so that I could plug my shuffle into my stereo, but no luck. It works like it's supposed to with other docking devices, just not in my car. :(.

Worked great for me!,

This is exactly what I needed to be able to play my old shuffle in our new baby's room. I was trying to figure out the best way to do it and the only speakers I could find were battery operated and I really wanted something I could plug in. I already had an old radio/alarm clock dock but my shuffle wouldn't fit into it. This was the perfect solution. I was a little hesitant to buy it after reading the reviews on here. Some people said the shuffle didn't fit into the adapter and other people said the adapter didn't fit into their dock. Everything fit together perfectly for me and it worked like a charm right away. I would give it 5 stars if it could play and charge at the same time, but I believe that's the shuffle's limitation and not the adapter itself but it's still a little inconvenient but better than not being able to use it at all. For $12 I'm glad I took the risk!
