AirCurve Play makes the speaker of your iPhone 4 sound 10 decibels louder, and it works without batteries or cables. Just slip your iPhone into AirCurve's rubber dock gasket, and your iPhone 4 becomes the perfect portable audio/video conference phone, video viewer and game platform. AirCurve is a cleverly designed acoustic amplifier that collects the sound from the built-in speaker of your iPhone, amplifies it in a coiled waveguide within the base, and projects it into the room. Though AirCurve, itself, uses no power, it features a pass-through slot that allows you to insert your own cable so you can charge and sync while you listen. And AirCurve's transparent polycarbonate body lets you appreciate the graceful curves inside that do all the work.

I recently ordered and received the Aircurve Play for the iphone 4. As others have stated, the phone fits loosely within the Aircurve unless placed in the provided white case or you have a case of similar thickness. The case I already have on my iphone fits well enough, so no need to switch cases, I can just drop it in the Aircurve and it works (I think most thin cases would probably fit well enough). The device certainly results in a noticeable increase in volume, though it would not really be audible during a party or after walking into other rooms of my house. It is loud enough that I clearly hear my iphone while using the shower. The sound quality is about what you'd expect from something that just amplifies your iphone speaker, slightly degraded from the normal iphone speaker. Due to the limited increase in volume and sound quality, it's not something I'd use while entertaining guests. My sole purpose for purchasing the product was to place it in the master bathroom so that I can listen to my iphone while getting ready in the morning (hear the speaker over running water), and for that it works perfectly. No cords or batteries to ever worry about either!
Depending on your intended use, this might be great or horrible. If you're an audiophile or intend to make this a primary listening device, you may be disappointed. If you just want something cheap and easy to slightly amplify your iphone speaker and don't want to deal with a cord or batteries, you could be very happy.

1) THIS PRODUCT IS FOR THE IPHONE 4. I don't know what's so complicated about that. My iPhone 4 is sitting in it right now and it fits perfectly.
2) It works great. I wasn't expecting it to work as well as it did, but it amplifies the volume considerably, easily filling my bedroom with sound.
That's pretty much all there is to say. I think anyone would be pleased with the amplification from such a small, inexpensive device.

Amazon Verified Purchase
Before I received the aircurve play I wrote to Griffin to find out if it would work with a silicon case. They informed me it would work but that I wouldn't get as much amplification if I didn't put the phone into provided white silicon "case" that's included. They also recommended against getting it if I was going to use it primarily with a phone case. I regretted my purchase after hearing this but I am happy to say I am very happy with how it works with the iskin solo and speck pixelskin hd cases that my wife and I have on our iPhone. I compared our case with the case included and is exactly the same as far as allowing sound from the speaker to pass through into the cavity and enhance sound. It looks like a horn. I would imagine practically any silicon case would work as long as it's not incredibly bulky. My 4 year old son was having a great time listening to a song and pulling the phone out to hear the drop in volume and then put it back to hear it get loud again, it was like a magic trick to him. The only negative is that the phone doesn't lock into the cradle and this is probably due to using a case and not putting the iPhone into included case.
