Bought this to use with the USB connection to listen to my ipod in my car. It is perfect. Long enough to be easy to hook up my ipod, but short enough that there is no excess cord getting in the way. Have been using it for over 9 months so far with no issues.

Another great Griffin product. They are pricey on their retail site, but Amazon always has a great deal on their products. This item is compatible with the Survivor line. It is low key and out of the way and tucks away nicely behind the desk top. Too short to talk with in the car as it is too short to reach you.

This cable suits my needs perfectly. Some people reviewing this product complain that it's too short, clearly they didn't do their research. It is a well made cable serving it's purpose well and is just the perfect length for my requirements, making for a tidy arrangement connecting my iPhone/Pod to my head unit without superfluous unsightly lengths of cable getting in the way. Do your research, find out what you need and get it right the first time...

I just purchased a new Toyota Camry with Entune and I needed a cable to connect my iPhone to the USB port in a small compartment in the dash. This is perfect. I don't want something long; I needed it compact. I don't put a lot of stress on the coil, and I see no reason why it won't last; it's a heavy cord, and the the ends seem substantial - better than my standard iPhone cable. The cord tucks away behind the compartment door when not in use, and I can just pull it out and hook it to the charging port on my iPhone when I want to hook it up. Not only does it make the connection between the Entune app on the phone and my Nav screen, it charges the iPhone as I drive. Perfect tool for the job.

Griffin products are the only ones I trust for Apple products, besides Apple. And in fact, I like Griffin products better than Apple ones. They are more durable, and even seem to fit more securely than Apple's.

I initially wrote the review below, which I am leaving for reference. I am revising upward a couple of stars because after contacting Griffin, they agreed to replace the cord for free. I think 3 stars is about the max for this item though as a result of iffy quality for the money, and the replacement procedure at Griffin turned out to be a little too cumbersome (show photo of destroyed item in front of a computer monitor with the representative's email in the background). Should I send a photo of the item destroyed with today's newspaper as well? I guess they have to protect against fraud somehow, but that seemed like a lot of tapdancing to replace a prematurely failed iPhone cable.

---------------

I am so frustrated with cheap cables. How hard is it, especially if you're paying $16 or so, to make a cable that will hold up more than a few months? I was not "rough" in any way with this item, and now it will not charge my iPhone whatsoever.

I'll definitely be writing Griffin about my unhappiness. I might expect this from a $2 Chinese cable or something but this is much too expensive to fail this fast.

I bought this because it's a really limited market for coiled iphone cords. This one is very short like others said but it's better for me than a dangling cord at this point. Only good for about a foot and half extension.

Also confirmed to work with this case. Belkin Essential 050 Case for Apple iPhone 4S (Blacktop/Overcast)

I don't know what other reviewers got in the mail but the one I got is very cheaply made and even though I don't plug/unplug it very often, it feels like it may burst into pieces at any moment. The wire is too stiff and the coil? Well.. the coil is there but I'm afraid to stretch it out for fear it won't go back into it's original shape.

In hindsight, I'd advise friends to avoid this connector.
