Worked with my Iphone 3GS,

This review is from: Griffin PowerJolt Redesign Car Charger for iPod and iPhone 1G (Black) (Electronics)
The item worked perfectly with my Iphone 3GS. I had read about the other reviews, so I was a little reluctant, but rest assured, I had absolutely no issue, and it worked great!

Amazon shipped the correct charger, as shown in the picture. This is the same charger which the Apple online site recommends for the 3G iPhone.

On the box, it says that this charger pretty much works with most models of ipods. I have the ipod video and the charger works great with my kind of model. The cord that comes with the actual charger is recognized by my computer and itunes, syncs up the ipod, and then charges it. It acts just like the original cord that came with the ipod. The charger does come with an indicator light that lets you know when the ipod has been fully charged, it starts off as amber and turns green when charged. The cord itself does not seem tight when plugging into the ipod, so maybe this sort of problem depends on the model? I am really glad I got this charger, it is very handy to have in the car.

I ordered this product in Oct. 2008 and received the one in the picture -- the latest model. I use it with my iPhone 3G and it worked exactly as it should. The phone gets warm, of course, when charging, but not as warm as it does with other chargers. The fact that the cable detaches is a bonus. Sometimes I bring the cable in with me to charge the phone with my laptop. Personally, I am very satisfied with the product.

Junk the cable, use the connector,

I bought the PowerJot for my iPhone 3G because reviewers praised its uniqueness: a fuse in its base to address power surges (and thus give the PowerJolt longer life). The cable that I received from Griffin (both the original and the one I got on return-for-replacement) was so tight at the iPhone end that I had to shove to get it in and wrestle to get it out. My workaround: use Apple's own designed-for-iPhone USB connector cable and junk the cheapie that Griffin sends with the PowerJolt ($19.95 more... but I have a reliable car-charger now and am not risking damage to my iPhone).

The enclosed cable charges my iPhone 3G through the PowerJolt car adapter as well as the Apple original 'cube' wall charger. Unlike the Apple cable, it does not sync my iPhone with iTunes on my Win XP laptop: 'itunes could not connect to the iphone because an invalid response was received from the device'. I would only add: '...over the Griffin cable', the Apple cable works fine. Disregard the Griffin claim that the cable syncs and don't charge through your laptop USB (unless you don't mind the error each time you plug in) and you will be happy; The PowerJolt works.

Best charger for iPhone!,

I've used this charger with my iPhone 3G and now with my iPhone 4. Even though the description says "iPhone 1G" it works with all of them. I like this charger because the charging cable (connects to the iPhone on one end and has a usb on the other) and the car adapter are two pieces. Also the cable isn't coiled and it doesn't get caught in my car when I move my phone around. The length of the cable is great, too. I recommend this product!

Horibble crafstman ship...dies in 2 months,

Never buy this ever. You can get a knock off that is 10 times better. The connection to charge in the car is ruined after 2 months of use. Event time I plug my iphone in I pray, do rain dances, and hold a ritual and 10% of the time charges and if it does I never move the position and I can hear the connect sound switching many times. I have 2 of these and the last one ( 4 months old ) stopped working almost completely. The problem is their connection material. The company I work for for several thousand people in it( 30% roughly with an iphone) and I did a poll to see if I was the only one and 90%( about 30 ) said they threw it away because after a few months like me. All in all the connection material if horrid and don't waste your money. When it works it does a great job. 10% of the time after 60 days. Nick

Flaky Charging,

The design of the product is quite nice. There is a lighted ring that indicates that the plug is powered. The connector fits snuggly into the iPhone. However, it just doesn't charge consistently. I've repeatedly tried unplugging and reconnecting the base plug, the phone, the connector between the cable and the base plug. Unplugging the cable from the base plug and reconnecting it will sometimes enable charging, but it is very hit or miss.

Works with iPhone 3Gs,

Just confirming that it works flawlessly with the 3Gs, as others here have stated. Amazon has quite a way of naming products and being vague about details. At the moment the title for this products reads, "Griffin PowerJolt Redesign Home/Car Charger for iPod and iPhone 1G (Black)"I also want to say that it fits the phone well, clipping into it nicely. Two release buttons are easy to depress and keep the cord securely to the phone when in use. This cord is better than the one that came with the phone and is more like the old iPod cords that had the release buttons. This cord is a few inches longer than the one that comes with the phone and is more than enough for me in my car. The adapter seats snugly into my cigarette lighter pulls out easily. Removing the USB end of the cord from it is effortless. Overall the fit and finish is nicer than any other charger I've seen to date. |
