Product Description

From the Manufacturer

The Griffin Reflect Mirrored Chrome-Finish Case for iPod 5G with Video provides you with tough protection for your iPod that reflects well on you. As elegant as it is enduring, the Reflect cases not on make you look good, but ensures your valuable investment stays looking good and working well for a long time.

Griffin's Reflect case is constructed with a durable polycarbonate shell that presents a seamless, mirrored-chrome reflective face, with only a cutout for the control wheel. Once you wake up your iPod, however, the bright, clear screen shows through the chrome as if by magic. The Reflect case also has a matte-black, rubberized back that not only visually complements and contrasts the chrome front, but provides you with a sure grip so you are less likely to accidentally drop your iPod. The Griffin Reflect mirrored case fits all sizes of fifth-generation Video iPods, provides easy access to the control wheel and all ports, and is backed by a manufacturer's one-year warranty.

2.0 out of 5 stars Pretty, but non-functional, June 27, 2007

This review is from: Griffin Reflect Chrome Mirrored Case for iPod 5G/6G (Electronics)
I bought this case for a specific feature which many hard cases do not have: a fully exposed bottom (insert risque musical riff!) which allows me to connect my Monster iCarPlay transmitter. This particular transmitter has a large dock connector that absolutely must sit completely flush with the bottom of the iPod. Monster A IP FM-CH 200 iCarPlay Wireless FM Transmitter for iPod w/ Auto-Scan Most cases on the market, hard and soft, only provide an opening the width of the dock connector, which means I have to remove my iPod from its case every time I connect it to the transmitter, an annoyance I am not willing to suffer through daily.

The case is very pretty, and it will even fit over an iPod that has the InvisibleShield protective film installed (if a bit tightly), but here are the drawbacks, and these are deal-breakers for me, as I am returning it to the store I bought it from:

1. The mirrored face makes the iPod too dim to view in any sort of bright light, like daylight in a car, even with the brightness maxed on the iPod. Dark scenes in movies are completely unviewable, even in dimly-lit situations.

2. I would have loved to have some sort of clip or way to hook it onto a belt or strap.

3. The mirrored face scratches if you even look at it funny, and those scratches become very noticeable when watching anything on the iPod.

In short, great looking product, but too many shortcomings for someone who regularly uses their iPod in any situation other than a pitch black room while handling their iPod with kid gloves.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Ipod Case, March 4, 2007
This review is from: Griffin Reflect Chrome Mirrored Case for iPod 5G/6G (Electronics)
I have another Ipod case (Agent35) along with this one. This one is strong, sturdy and works well with my 60Gb ipod.

Pros:
- cool relfective case that makes your friends very jealous.
- strong and sturdy
- comes with two cases for proper fit of your specific ipod (fits very well).
- has not scratched yet, though I haven't tried specifically to scratch it.
- Added bonus: I like the backing of the case (black) because of the feel and it looks hard to scratch
Cons:
- very minor, but has a small vertical line below the play button where it was joined during the manufacturing process. One must look closely to spot it.

IMHO it is the best one I have owned so far.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cool Effect... Not for Protection, June 10, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Griffin Reflect Chrome Mirrored Case for iPod 5G/6G (Electronics)
After looking into almost every case on the market, I decide to buy this case.

Pos: Looks cools, you will get wows from people you show it to. Due to the shape of the case (see con) it docks easily, even to iTrip. Case is attached securely but still comes off when you want it to. Has two back covers for 30GB and 60GB, 80GB.

Con: If you want to protect your iPod, do not buy. This cheap plastic shell covers the front and back of your iPod but leaves the scroll wheel completely exposed, as well as the bottom connection port. If you drop your iPod, it was receive the same damage if there was no case. The mirror effect darkens the screen, so turn up the brightness (drain the battery) to watch movies. Griffin claims the back cover is "rubberized", but it is still slippery. It scratches as easily as the iPod itself (mine came pre-scratched for my convenience). For what you get, they should have knocked $10 from the price.
