5.0 out of 5 stars Good Ipod Case
I have another Ipod case (Agent35) along with this one. This one is strong, sturdy and works well with my 60Gb ipod.

Pros:
- cool relfective case that makes your friends very jealous.
- strong and sturdy
- comes with two cases for proper fit of your specific ipod (fits very well).
- has not scratched yet, though I haven't tried...

I bought this case for a specific feature which many hard cases do not have: a fully exposed bottom (insert risque musical riff!) which allows me to connect my Monster iCarPlay transmitter. This particular transmitter has a large dock connector that absolutely must sit completely flush with the bottom of the iPod. Monster A IP FM-CH 200 iCarPlay Wireless FM Transmitter for iPod w/ Auto-Scan Most cases on the market, hard and soft, only provide an opening the width of the dock connector, which means I have to remove my iPod from its case every time I connect it to the transmitter, an annoyance I am not willing to suffer through daily.

The case is very pretty, and it will even fit over an iPod that has the InvisibleShield protective film installed (if a bit tightly), but here are the drawbacks, and these are deal-breakers for me, as I am returning it to the store I bought it from:

1. The mirrored face makes the iPod too dim to view in any sort of bright light, like daylight in a car, even with the brightness maxed on the iPod. Dark scenes in movies are completely unviewable, even in dimly-lit situations.

2. I would have loved to have some sort of clip or way to hook it onto a belt or strap.

3. The mirrored face scratches if you even look at it funny, and those scratches become very noticeable when watching anything on the iPod.

In short, great looking product, but too many shortcomings for someone who regularly uses their iPod in any situation other than a pitch black room while handling their iPod with kid gloves.

- has not scratched yet, though I haven't tried specifically to scratch it.
- Added bonus: I like the backing of the case (black) because of the feel and it looks hard to scratch
Cons:
- very minor, but has a small vertical line below the play button where it was joined during the manufacturing process. One must look closely to spot it.

IMHO it is the best one I have owned so far.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cool Effect... Not for Protection, June 10, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Griffin Reflect Chrome Mirrored Case for iPod 5G/6G (Electronics)
After looking into almost every case on the market, I decide to buy this case.

Pos: Looks cools, you will get wows from people you show it to. Due to the shape of the case (see con) it docks easily, even to iTrip. Case is attached securely but still comes off when you want it to. Has two back covers for 30GB and 60GB, 80GB.

Con: If you want to protect your iPod, do not buy. This cheap plastic shell covers the front and back of your iPod but leaves the scroll wheel completely exposed, as well as the bottom connection port. If you drop your iPod, it was receive the same damage if there was no case. The mirror effect darkens the screen, so turn up the brightness (drain the battery) to watch movies. Griffin claims the back cover is "rubberized", but it is still slippery. It scratches as easily as the iPod itself (mine came pre-scratched for my convenience). For what you get, they should have knocked $10 from the price.

This product arrived scratche and the customer service would do nothing about a replacement. They have ignorged emails and phone calls and refuse to a) take the product back for a refund, or b) replace the product with a non-defective case. I would not recommend getting one of these cases and definately not through antonline.com

I ordered this for an apple ipod video 5g. I have one for a new ipod nano and it is beautiful. The first one arrived with scuffs on it. They couldn't be removed. When I looked at the packaging, the same scuffs were on the packaging. It appeared that the packaging had rubbed on the screen, damaging it. I returned it easily to amazon, which promptly sent out a replacement, even before they received my product back. Sadly, the replacement had the exact same problem. I returned it, too and looked locally. I found one left locally. I looked at it and sure enough, it, too, was scuffed. Griffin has changed the packaging on the later versions (for the nano, etc) of this item and the new packaging seems to protect the screen just fine. If you can find one of these undamaged, they seem to hold up well, but getting a good one might be tough.

2.0 out of 5 stars looks cool, really cool...other then that...uh, June 19, 2007
This review is from: Griffin Reflect Chrome Mirrored Case for iPod 5G/6G (Electronics)
I saw this case in CompUSA and had to buy it, loved it looking at it in the store. I opened it immediately when I got in my car to put my iPod on in and low and behold a nice never opened unit had some scuffmarks on it already! Annoyed, I immediately exchanged it. Guess what, the second one had damage too, just not as bad so I thought it looks `cool enough.'

A few uses in, I noticed I had to turn my brightness up all the way just to see at almost normal level. Bye, bye battery life. Annoyed again. Oh, and forget seeing your display on a sunny day, and if you like wearing sunglasses you'd better change your style.

Now about 2 weeks in I notice that the screen gets distorted because the case it too tight on my 80 GB. Basically, it looks like a little fingerprint on the corner of the screen that won't go away. I bought the thing to protect the screen and well, it distorts the screen. Annoyed count: 3.

The best thing about the case is that it makes your iPod look killer. When the unit is off or screen is black, you definitely have the niftiest looking mp3 player in town. The case as you may get at this point is not very functionally. In fact, it is very annoying to use your iPod in this case. I am torn. I love how it makes my mp3 player look, however, I hate the limitations of this case. Love, Hate...you know the story.

Maybe that analogy will help. Owning this case kind of reminds me of dating a hot dumb girl...stay with me here...great to have on your arm...then she opens her mouth. Ouch! The reflect, great to show off to your friends then, Ouch! You go to use your iPod.

To conclude, I'm on the market. As soon as something `cooler, better, neater, more functional (stressing functional here) comes along say bye, bye reflect chrome case.

Regards...

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't Bother: Poor quality and not as advertised!, December 14, 2007
This review is from: Griffin Reflect Chrome Mirrored Case for iPod 5G/6G (Electronics)
When my item arrived the screen was scratched, but besides that the picture didn't "shine through as if by magic". It was difficult to view videos because the screen was so dark and it was so reflective all you saw was your face shining back at you. Even if it was free it would not be a good case. Don't waste your time or money on this product.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this case, November 14, 2007
This review is from: Griffin Reflect Chrome Mirrored Case for iPod 5G/6G (Electronics)
I've already returned two of these and, after reading all of the reviews, I realize I should have read them first and paid attention. Griffin Reflect cases are great for the new Ipod Nano, and I've had no problem with them. The case for the Video Ipod is something else. The only problem I'm aware of is the scuffing of unopened cases. Clearly this has something to do with the way the product is stored because the scuffing is on the outside of the package and then duplicated right below on the case itself. I opened the first case and noticed it immediately. I could have just kept it, but it looked as though it would be very distracting. I did put it on the unit and it fit perfectly. I was able to see the screen easily, although I was inside the house at the time and would imagine it would be difficult to see if I were in the sun. The replacement unit had exactly the same problem and when it arrived today I repacked it and got the RMA. It will ship back in the morning. After two times and plenty of reading reviews, I realize it would be pretty, pretty, pretty stupid to order it again.

We have two of them. Works great to protect your ipod. Easy to take on and off. Ads a nice look to your ipod because of the mirrored chrome.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good product!, February 24, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Griffin Reflect Chrome Mirrored Case for iPod 5G/6G (Electronics)
I was extremely happy with the product. There were no scratches on the case and it protects my ipod! The only down side is that once the case is on, it's kind of hard to get it off and my plug into the wall charger doesn't fit the ipod when the case is on. And since it is so hard to take off, I have to charge it by using my computer. Minor issues and overall I love the product!
