Good device - better than the Jawbone!,
This review is from: Griffin SmartTalk Bluetooth Earpiece for iPhone and iPhone 3G (Electronics)
I acquired one of these to replace the Jawbone 1 I had been using. I liked the Jawbone 1, in fact, I liked it so much I bought three - one to replace the one I broke, and one to replace the one I lost. The one niggling problem I had always had with the Jawbone, however, was that the incoming audio was just never quite loud enough. This is a puzzling flaw, because the Jawbone 1 is specifically designed to work well in noisy environments, and in fact it almost always excelled at allowing my callers to hear me well. However, since I couldn't always hear my callers well when I was in noisy environments because the earpiece just wasn't loud enough, and I read reviews of the Griffin that specifically mentioned its loud, clear audio, I decided to get one.
I've only had it a couple of days now but I can definitely say that I can hear my callers better; it's probably partly due to better sound isolation from the silicone rubber earplug part that very effectively blocks the entrance to the ear canal, but also because the speaker inside the unit is just more capable of producing a nice, loud signal. The unit itself is significantly lighter and more svelte than the Jawbone 1 and the swiveling ear hook allows for better & easier alignment of the earpiece to the face. The recharging cord is a little more fiddly to attach than the Jawbone 1's, but early samples of the Jawbone 1 often had some difficulty in making and sustaining a charging connection, which the Griffin does not seem like it will. The voice prompts are a nice touch, but are, themselves, curiously muffled in quality, and the start of each phrase seems to be mysteriously clipped off, so I felt I had to deduct one star in my rating for this reason. Otherwise, a very solid product, and a definite improvement over my beloved Jawbone 1.

I was anxious to try out this headset and it paired easily with my iPhone. Unfortunately, the first person I called said I sounded like I was talking in the car with the window open... actually I was sitting at home. Needless to say, I returned the headset.

NOT for Ipod!,

I'm not sure about the quality of this item as far as phone quality, the only reason I bought it was because it advertised that it works with the Ipod. It doesn't. Nothing in the product manual addresses connecting to an Ipod, and after several attempts going step-by-step with both the manual for the Bluetooth transmitter and this product - no go. I did test it by linking my Ipod transmitter to wireless headphones, and also by linking the Griffin to my phone, both successful. But I could not link my Ipod transmitter to the Griffin. The description is completely misleading.
