Okay at best,
This review is from: Itrip Auto Universal (Electronics)
The sound quality okay, not nearly as good as other FM transmitters I've used, even on clear channels. Does not seem to have the power as other transmitters either. The most annoying this is that it will turn off if it thinks you are no longer playing music. This typically happens to me when a quite song comes on. Because the radio is turned way up to hear the music (my ipod's volume is almost maxed out and this still happens) when this happens you get an earfull of deafening static.

Its a decent transmitter if you know how to switch it to international mode. pretty much hold in the one button on it for like 30secs until you get a choice of US or intl. then you can access the lower frequencies that seem to work a lot better. 87.9 works great for me. The problem is the shutting off when it thinks there is no sound. If you don't want this to happen you got to turn up the ipod volume until it distorts, but who wants that? It pretty much turns off every five minutes for me. So I kinda drive with one hand on it to hit a button to turn it back on at all times. This is the stupidest function its not like it runs on batteries, then I could understand trying to save power. But it plugs into a cigerette lighter outlet, whats the big deal with saving power its plugged in!!!! It should be on if my car is on and thats it. Instead they added a corny function that serves no purpose but to piss off everyone who bought one. Good job Griffin.

Decent enough...,

Pro's:1)The sound quality is in-between fair and good enough, the problem is that there is a very subtle static noise, but it's not always there and when it is it is very subtle 2)the size and weight, and the fact that it doesn't need a battery are great features. Cons: 1) when it gets hot from being in the sun in your car the display becomes annoyingly painful to try to read, so plan on keeping it on one channel 2) it seems that if it get's bumped around it will turn off momentarily, it also seems that when you play soft music, it tends to turn off also, so no opera or symphony. Summary: It's a great device for the price I paid. I believe that if the antenna on my car weren't at the back the static problem wouldn't be a problem. I simply gave three stars because of the quality and the fact that it turns off periodically.

This modulator works as well as can be expected. I bought this to use with my iPod while driving a rental car. It did what it was supposed to do, but not much more. The sound quality was tolerable. The music was a bit tinny and there was some static in the larger cities, but overall it worked as advertised. A solid buy and will do what you need it to do.

Not amazing. got what I paid for. does not have any amplification of the signal, which better quality transmitters have, which results in quieter signal.

This product is awful. I read the reviews ahead of time and decided that it couldn't possibly be as bad as people were saying, especially for only 7 dollars. Wrong. It is every bit as bad as everyone else says. Even after changing the settings as recommended, the sound quality (that's an oxymoron in this case) is absolutely terrible. It is literally hard to listen to. Every time the song is even remotely soft, or even sometimes just for no reason at all, the itrip will just shut off or go to a different station. Every time you hit a small bump it turns off. I had to tape it up to my dashboard (very classy) for it even to get remotely decent reception, and even then it's just awful. Put your $7 towards one that actually works, not this one.

this itrip FM transmitter is not the cutting edge one, therefore, we cant expect too much. But the sound quality is not good enough after you connect it to your ipod or other mp3. Also, it doesn't power up automatically when you start your car. You have to pull it off then back in to start it. It's "convenient" only when you always left it hooked up to your car and don't want it to power-on simutaneously. But the most important is, it doesn't have a "smart scan" function like its new surpasser "itrip auto" or "itrip auto (2008)". If your travel covers a long distance, like interstate, your radio band that suits best for the transmitter may change too. and once that, you have to adjust it with many clicks on button up or down while you're driving. That's insanely dangeous and complex! So, i would not suggest this one, instead, get a newer model though some bucks more would be added to your budget.Griffin iTrip Auto FM Transmitter and Auto Charger for iPod (Black)

I'm telling you, I've been using these iTrips for years (i've bought 3). I had one for my ipod but needed one that would plug through a headphone jack so I could listen to Pandora on my phone (LG Ally). It sounded great, no static, perfectly fine. I bought one for my girlfriend and plugged her phone in and wow, the static was so bad you could barely hear the thing. I tried switching radio stations and to no avail. Occasionally, when she's driving it will work, but lesson learned: if you are buying this for your phone, you might want to look into compatibility because something about the Droid caused interference.
