Check compatibility carefully
For all I know this product works very well with compatible iPods so, to avoid unfairness, I award it 5 stars. However, the product information regarding compatibility is seriously incomplete. Don't buy. Will Waste your money
Most all iPods do not support fireWire transfers. It will only charge your iPod; nothing else. You won't be able to transfer songs or use your iPod in disk mode. I just wasted about 10 bucks to be disappointed!

For all I know this product works very well with compatible iPods so, to avoid unfairness, I award it 5 stars. However, the product information regarding compatibility is seriously incomplete. It says that this cable is compatible with, among other things, "iPod 3G." The nomenclature is confusing because there are several models that have a third generation. I purchased this item thinking it would let you sync a third generation iPod nano, and it doesn't. See Apple Support article TS1369 at [...] for a chart showing which models work with FireWire and which don't.

Griffin Technology Dock400 FireWire Cable for iPod. This is another great product from Griffin Technology. I've been purchasing various products from them over the years and have always found that for it pays to stick with a company who's products you can depend on.

Ordered this through Amazon from "grandtechoutlet"...got here very quickly for a VERY good price compared to a new one from Apple. Seems to work great so far, seems to be a very good quality cable (as you would expect from Griffin).
