I'm not someone that spends all day on the road, but I do take enough trips and even use my iPod around town. Ipod car chargers can incredibly overpriced as can a simple firewire cable. So It's a bargin to get not only a car charger, but an extra firewire cable, so I can leave one plugged into my Mac all the time.

Looking for a car charger, I noticed this one had a removable FireWire cable - which meant I could use any other cable I want. Now that I've upgraded to the new iPod (I got a new 15 GB) I was suprised to discover that it works with the new iPods too. I just use the dock-to-FireWire cable that comes with the new iPod and it works perfectly. Even IF I buy an extra dock cable, it's still less than the Belkin charger at 40 bucks. Plus I can use it interchangeably with my wife's iPod (my old one ;).
All in all, the PowerPod is a great value, flexable and future-proof. You can't ask for much more. I don't hesitate recommending this iPod charger to anyone.

This is my second (and counting) Griffin accessory for my iPod mini. First I bought the iTrip transmitter, and then I picked up this dandy little gadget since I was using my mini so much more and kept forgetting to plug it in at night. I like that the wire disconnects from the power unit to hook up to the USB port on my computer to update my mini. It is sooooooooo easy to use and helps since I travel a lot for hockey. Definitely a bargain at twice the price.

I've had this product for about a month now and have had no noise or interference with my iPod mini. It charges while it plays, and I have had it plugged in w/o the car running (no longer than 1hr), and the car battery didn't die. I use it with the Griffin iTrip with great results. I used it on an 8hr drive from IL to MI and was very pleased. I will be making the same trip home and back to school again soon and suggest this product to anyone who makes road trips.

Looking at the simple plug in it looks straight forward... and that's sort of the problem. Firewire cables are sort of stiff and stick straight out of the plug. I wish it had a swivel end or was at a 45 degree angle so I didn't have this firewire plug sticking straight out and getting in the way while I drive. The product itself works great. Has a green LED that lights up when connected. It could be designed a tad better though.

This was a great buy. It works very well and does everything the manufacturer said it was supposed to do. I want my products to work efficiently and effectively and this auto charger does both so I highly reccomend it.

This product was reasonably priced and almost what I expected. I was looking for an auto power adapter that would power my older iPod. That is I expected an adapter that had a firewire connector to my older iPod. What I got was an adapter that had a firewire connector but came with a cable that had a newer edition iPod connector. Fortunately I had a firewire to firewire cable that could be used with the base plug so it worked out OK. I just wish that the description identified what cable came with the power adapter.

Does what it says it will do, and looks pretty good, too. The fact that it's a charger that's in 2 pieces isn't a problem - I havent had the cord come unplugged yet when I didn't want it too. Plus, you can use the cord to hook into the firewire port of the computer for faster transfer with the iPod.

Actually, it's no star, but they wont let me do that. This charger is not a stand-alone item for the new iPod. It requires a firewire interface such as the docking unit, or some other sort of conversion item. Docking unit in your car? I dont think so. Belkin makes a great unit that not only works with the new iPods, but also has a small amp and volume control built in, with a output jack for plugging a cassette or remote transmitter into.
If you have the newer iPods, I suggest you pass on this unit.

This one is ok, but needs the adapter. I prefer the first one Belkin released. I have the cassette adaptor and cup holder in my Honda Civic. Works like a charm. !!!STAY AWAY from the FM transmitters.!!! I find them (I bought the one from Belkin and Griffen) both to be a waste of money...interference, static, etc...it defeats the whole purpose of digital music: clarity.
