5.0 out of 5 stars Fits 80GB great
Just what I expected. I bought the case to prevent scratches and to prevent an accidental drop or small spill from killing my brand new 80GB classic. This one works fine. It comes with two backs to fit either the 80 or 160.

One small note - it adds a little width that might prevent inserting your Ipod into a dock.

2.0 out of 5 stars Hard to remove without damage
Looks and works great when on, and fits my 80 gig ipod classic perfectly. However, the first time I tried to remove it from the ipod I caused damage. Looks and works great when on, and fits my 80 gig ipod classic perfectly. However, the first time I tried to remove it from the ipod I caused damage. Using the method that's printed on the back of the box (insert coin in corner and twist) just bends and cracks the plastic at the corner. To get the case off I needed to pry it very carefully with a screwdriver, and was successful to the point that I didn't scratch my ipod. The iclear seems like a nice product, but this is a major flaw and its not going back on my ipod. The plastic in the particular batch that mine came from might be suspect, and other units may fare better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly what I was looking for, December 28, 2007
This review is from: Griffin iClear Hard-Shell Case for 80/120/160 GB iPod classic 6G (Clear) (Electronics)
This a great, simple case. It doesn't hide how good my new iPod looks, but it has good overall protection. It adds a little bulk to the iPod, but it's not too bad. I tried the Griffin case that has a silver reflective front - but it gave a dark gray tint to the screen which is no good for watching movies.

1.0 out of 5 stars Breaks on impact., December 6, 2008
This review is from: Griffin iClear Hard-Shell Case for 80/120/160 GB iPod classic 6G (Clear) (Electronics)
If you want this to protect your ipod from impacts on hard floors, think again. After one drop onto the concrete, the bottom portion cracked. It's also really tough to remove without causing the plastic to crack. And dust seeps in extremely easily under the screen. Do not buy.

1.0 out of 5 stars Do not buy!, September 23, 2009

Problem 1. In the pictures this case has a belt clip, the one I bought doesn't.
Problem 2. It lets dust, sand etc. particles inside the case and it scratches the paint off the ipod, It has caused more damage using the case then not having one and dropping it.

This is an unacceptable excuse for protection, don't buy it!!!!!!!!!!

This works perfectly for my new 6g 120gb ipod. It fits snugly, though I do have a skin on it that may increase the width just a bit. I have also easily taken it off with a quarter twice with no scratches or even much effort. Very happy so far!

2.0 out of 5 stars It does protect the iPod, BUT..., March 4, 2008

This review is from: Griffin iClear Hard-Shell Case for 80/120/160 GB iPod classic 6G (Clear) (Electronics)
I recently purchased this iPod case because it does not cover the control wheel (as many other cases do). Within 3 days of receiving it, the iClear case was damaged. I was walking around my kitchen (which has a linoleum floor) when my earphone cord got caught on a cabinet doorknob, pulling the iPod out of my pants pocket and causing it to fall to the floor. The iPod was unharmed from the fall (about 3 feet), but the iClear case immediately cracked and a piece broke off.

I contacted Griffin to see if their warranty covered this--it does not. They themselves claim the case is supposed to protect the iPod from scratches and scuffing. (Of course they only make that claim over the phone!). I understand that they can't guarantee the case will withstand being dropped, but you should have seen it. 3 feet from my pocket to the kitchen floor, and the iClear snapped like a breakaway vase used in a movie.

So if you want protection from scratches, and you're SURE you'll never drop your iPod, then this case should do fine. If, however, you find yourself walking, bending over, turning around (perhaps with some speed) while using your iPod, you may want to look elsewhere for a stronger case.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very well protected., February 11, 2011
This review is from: Griffin iClear Hard-Shell Case for 80/120/160 GB iPod classic 6G (Clear) (Electronics)
I have used this cover for two years on my ipod classic. I looked at reviews and decided to buy it and I'm glad I did.

Pros:
Very good protection. Still stays on when dropped. No plastic in the way of the openings. Very easy to remove. People are so dumb, I know there's a lot of reviews saying how hard it is to remove but don't listen to them, they are morons. This case is extremely easy to remove... if you use the right device. All you need is a key. There is a small opening at the bottom of the case where you put your key and twist it and it pops off. I wouldn't want a protective case that easily comes off with no use of device. That would be dumb. It would pop off when you drop your ipod! I have dropped my ipod about 3 times (once on the ground) and it has never come off. However, do not use a knife. I was too lazy to get a key one time so I used a knife and almost chipped the plastic. That was dumb.

Cons:
Dirt still gets inside the cover at the bottom. Every so often I have to take the case off and clean it out. You might get a few scratches on the very bottom corners of your ipod where there is no protection.

Overall, it's a great product. Well worth any price for it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Scratches Very Easily!!!, February 28, 2009

This review is from: Griffin iClear Hard-Shell Case for 80/120/160 GB iPod classic 6G (Clear) (Electronics)
I am pretty dissapointed with this case. I've had it for about 2 1/2 weeks now, and although it provides adequate protection, it already has many scratches on both front and back. I have kept it in my jacket pocket most of the time when I'm out and about so there isn't any real excuse for all the scratches. One of the scratches is right on top of the view screen which is very annoying. My other complaint is that dust easily gets through the cutout for the click wheel and gets in between the case and the viewscreen. I would not recommend this case. I am now searching for a case that is more scratch resistant.

this is a good case for preventing scratches but not from preventing dust from getting in the case. There is no protection over the wheel. And I've found it really hard to get the case off once it's on. I've had to struggle to get the case off when I want to put in in my walking Ipod case. I've had to pry it off with a screwdriver once. Once it's on, it want's to stay on. I'm looking for something else to protect my precious IPod.
