4.0 out of 5 stars Works well, within limits
We have used this unit in Chicago, Los Angeles, and on road trips. It works well, so long as you can find a clear channel. The unit works best when it is set to the middle channel of three clear channels in a row, so that the transmitter has a clear channel on either side of it. 3.0 out of 5 stars Good but not for an audiophile...
Frankly I thought that the sound was going to be better do to FM transmission, nonetheless it works fine. Fast set up, and you have all the songs of your mp3 transmitted to your FM radio. Good for long trips.

Summary: Fast setup, easy to use, not great sound but I don't regret that I bought it.

We have used this unit in Chicago, Los Angeles, and on road trips. It works well, so long as you can find a clear channel. The unit works best when it is set to the middle channel of three clear channels in a row, so that the transmitter has a clear channel on either side of it. That's pretty hard to find in a major metropolitan area, so performance sometimes suffers. On rural highways (where we use it the most) clear channels are much easier to find, and performance is much better.

This is an excellent way to listen to your Sansa View (any other Sansa products) through your car FM radio. The product has been easy to configure to the local radio spectrum. I have all four presets so I never run into cross interferance. Because it plugs into the cigarette lighter - I never need worry about batteries. I great aide to this product is the web site [...] which will tell you where the "gaps" in the radio spectrum are for a given zip code. (It also lists all local radio stations.)

I bought this item several months ago and have been very pleased with its performance. I live in San Diego and travel to the Los Angeles area occasionally. There are almost no open channels on the FM radio band in this area and I still get good results with the griffin cable. I have had two other FM transmitters for my assorted mp3 players over the years and the griffin has worked the best. Also, I really like being able to charge the sansa and play music with a *single* cable. I would buy this cable again. I plan on taking it to Europe with me in a few months to see how it does there. One of my old transmitter had some problems in populated areas (I was in Spain at the time).

4.0 out of 5 stars For e250, March 19, 2008
This review is from: Griffin iTrip FM Transmitter and Auto Charger for Sansa (Electronics)
Hello.. I have a sansa e250 and it works great with it. I love my adapter!! The signal is very clear, the cable is long and I have had no problem with it, the only thing that would make it better is if it were wireless, but its ok.. i love it, i can use it in any car. You have to put the volume of the player hi before you plug it in because you can change it later, just with the car stereo.

At first, all we heard was dead air. Not static, just dead air. So I had a feeling it was the player and not the transmitter. I checked SanDisk's website and found the firmware wasn't up to date. So after a firmware update, the device worked flawlessly. Pick an empty station and play to your heart's content! Charging it at the same time....makes it all worth it.

I'm shocked by some of the poor reviews for this product. I use it with my Sansa e280 and it works REALLY well about 98% of the time. There is occasional static or a station comes in over it - this seems to happen when I am in urban areas where most stations are taken up. If you live in a suburban or rural area like I do, there should be no problem at all.

5.0 out of 5 stars buy it, June 20, 2008
This review is from: Griffin iTrip FM Transmitter and Auto Charger for Sansa (Electronics)
This product works well I think you will be pleased with this purchase. It charges as you listen so you do not got to worry with charging your mp3. I have not charged mine since this product arrived (since I use the Sansa mostly in my cars) .
It does rarely require a change of station if a radio station comes into range of the station your using but is easy to fix since you can choose from the entire dial to change to.
2 way radios(walkee talkees) muffle the sound if you have them on in the car with you, I have found as the only drawback to this (most likely all) product.
I have not owned this product for very long so can not attest to reliability yet.
Hope this helps.

This unit is durable and can take some rough handling, and charges while you drive just fine, which I have found very useful. However, as some people note about units like this one (and not just this one alone), the sound you get will not be the greatest. I got one of these for my brother and he returned his, because he couldn't take the degradation of his sound from his Sansa Fuze player to the FM sound this sort of unit puts out through the radio.

I can see exactly where he's coming from. This is not the solution for an audio purist. It's probably not the solution, if you're talking about playing rather than charging, for people in more recent cars that let you plug MP3 players directly into your sound system, because that will give you so much better sound than you'll get through this FM sound device. (By the way, FM radio sounds better than this.)

However, if you have an older car that does not let you plug directly into the sound system from your MP3 player and you still want to hear your tunes or audiobooks directly from your MP3 player without the hassle of handling a lot of CD's, beggars can't be choosers. Just be prepared for what you get -- decent but not great sound. If you have a CD player, especially one that plays MP3's, and insist on great sound, forget using this as anything but a charger. But if you want to just plug in your player and have your 8 or 16 gigs or whatever available without any CD shuffling, here's your decent but imperfect answer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Happy - Worth The Price, October 26, 2008

I first purchased the Coby CA-745 (because of the price) which after working for about 30 seconds would not power on again. I returned it and tried the iTrip which I am very happy with. I use it with my Sansa Fuze. No trouble finding a station & it sounds as good or better than the radio. No static or breakup. I am using it in a mostly rural area so I do not yet know how it would work in an urban area. I like the design better than the Coby also. My gear shift is right in front of the power outlet in my dashboard so when in park I cannot plug in anything large. The iTrip has a small plug with the unit separated by a wire which you can stick anywhere. It has 4 user programmable presets & a lighted dial.
