Book Description

December 17, 2008
I've always found recipe books a bit boring. The authors of these "other" books unemotionally write down the ingredients and instructions. I always wanted something with more BITE. Therefore, based on my Public Access Cooking Show "Grilldog Presents" I've developed this Guidebook. Although there are over 150 recipes it's not a traditional cookbook, it's a Guide to Food, Fun and Friends. Complete with stories and antidotes of life from Grilldog's perspective. There's plenty of excitement, laughs and adventure as you travel through Grilldog's world of Food, Fun and Friends. go to www.grilldog.com for more information

About the Author

Born "George Lester Bakley", October 18th 1959 in a small community in Southern New Jersey, Grilldog hosts a popular cooking show on Public Access TV called Grilldog Presents. Besides hosting the show, Grilldog is also the producer and director. The show airs in many communities in the United States, New Zealand and Australia. George graduated from Bridgewater College, VA with a Bachelors degree in Psychology and Sociology in 1978. During undergraduate studies he volunteered as a "Normal" control subject at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, MD. There, he lived as a control subject on the psychiatric unit for various psychological studies. After college he worked in various mental health facilities until he received his Masters Degree in Education from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia in 1988. During that time he worked as the head of Recreational Therapy for the Prince William County Community Services Board, providing recreational therapy for the county's psychiatrically disabled population. Changing careers in 1990, George began providing program management support to various Department of Defense contractors. Because of his work for the Military, George has traveled extensively around the United States, Europe and Japan. Also, in 1990 George first started volunteering for Public Access Television and began planning his own cooking show. Unfortunately, because of travel and various personal roadblocks, his television show didn't happen until 2005 when Cox Cable in San Diego first started airing his show. From 1990 - 2005 George began to develop his recipes and organize his thoughts for the eventual series. Whenever he was on assignment he would purchase cookbooks of the local area and study them on the long airplane rides. In 1997 George moved from Indianapolis, IN to San Diego and soon became known as "Grilldog". Grilldog just isn't about grilling. Grilldog is about Food, Fun and Friends. This is his motto and the creed by which he lives by. Though he does tend to growl a lot about social injustices and those "corporate sponsored cooking shows," he's genuinely good-natured and enjoys good food and good company. A whole bunch of Food, Fun and Friends, the book lives up to its name and the recipes are easy and good! as are the anecdotes, its so down to earth and easy to relate to, that after 2 days i caught myself peeing on a fire plug next to my BBQ.
