Inspired by traditional Brazilian barbecues, this portable barbecue grill makes it easy to bring the authentic taste of outdoor cooking indoors. To use, place the unit over a gas-stove burner or a portable camping stove; the gas flame enters through a circular opening in the base of the unit, then moves through a diffuser to evenly heat the food inside. One pair of double skewers, five standard skewers, and a chrome-plated grill basket come included. Simply load food into the basket or onto the skewers and hang vertically inside the grill for cooking with the option to rotate with a quick turn of the stay-cool handle. The grill can be used to cook up anything from steak, chicken, and fish to carrots, onions, peppers, and more. Best of all, it serves up to eight people at a time, cooking almost 4-1/2 pounds of meat in less than 20 minutes. When used outside, a piece of charcoal can be placed in the heat diffuser to create the smoky flavor of an authentic outdoor barbecue (do not use charcoal for indoor cooking). Other highlights include a catch basin at the bottom to catch all meat drippings, an aluminum upper body and lid with an electrostatic painted finish, stainless-steel heat diffuser and skewers, and Bakelite handles that stay cool to the touch for comfortable handling and safe transport. Another benefit of the Grillex is that more than one type of food can be prepared and cooked all at the same time without taking a chance on the mixing of flavors--try that in a rotisserie! No Smoke and Easy to Clean

Other makers of indoor grills have tried to make one that doesn't smoke, but only Grillex is truly smoke free. The patented design of the Grillex keeps the juices from dripping on the heat source, eliminating the smoke. The best part about the Grillex is that you are actually cooking over a real flame, just as you would on an outside barbecue. The Grillex sits right on top of your existing gas range top.

Ask anyone what their least favorite part about cooking is and they'll tell you it�s the clean up. With the Grillex, clean up is simple. When cooking with the Grillex, we recommend placing 1 cup of water in the base. This provides extra moisture to the food while cooking and makes for a simple clean-up. The water only comes in contact with the juices that drip from the food while cooking.

Combined with the non-stick coating on the base of the grill, clean up is a breeze. Simply poor out the water and rinse and the skewers and baskets can be placed in a dishwasher.

Take Grillex Outdoors or On the Go

Grillex doesn't need to be kept in the kitchen; the Grillex can be taken anywhere. Another patented feature of the Grillex is the flavor bowl that is housed in the heat diffuser. When grilling outside, this feature allows for a piece of charcoal to be added just above the flame and below the food to give the extra-added flavor of cooking over a real wood or charcoal fire. Just as one would never bring a charcoal grill into the house, never place charcoal in the Grillex while cooking indoors as adequate ventilation does not exist in the home. The space saving design makes it simple to store the Grillex among pots and pans in a typical cupboard when not in use. When designing the Grillex, a great amount of thought was put into how the unit would be stored when not in use. The engineers wanted to give the most amount of space inside the Grillex to allow for cooking larger portions however, this also created the need for more space to store the grill. In the end, the engineers settled on a brilliant design for the upper body of the grill to turn upside down and nest inside the lower body for storage. The end result is the Grillex only needs a mere 5-1/2 inches of clearance on the shelf.

Great Materials, Built to Last

The majority of the Grillex is made of aluminum. Aluminum is lightweight so there is no need to worry about moving a heavy grill around the kitchen. The total weight of the grill alone is less than 4-1/2 pounds. Aluminum was also used because of its ability to evenly distribute the heat throughout the grill, which is also one of the Grillex patented technologies. The skewers are made of restaurant grade stainless steel. The handles on the skewers, basket, grill body, and lid are made of Bakelite, which provides years of use without degradation due to harsh conditions such as the heat from the grill or ongoing cleaning in a dishwasher. In addition, the handles were designed with ridges to help dissipate the heat when in use. In most cases, a hot pad is not necessary when using the handles.

This grilling device is everything the product description says and more! I bought it thinking I can make churrasco, but I've since made chicken tikka, Middle Eastern lamb kabobs and more. Everything so far has come out very tender and moist, and best of all, the cleanup is a breeze--no splatter at all! Anticipating that I'd probably need more than the 5 skewers provided, I ordered an extra set of 4 when placing my original order. Turned out it was a smart move on my part, very proud of myself! This piece of cooking equipment is definitely more than just a curious gadget, I will be using it over and over again, for sure.

I purchased this back in April and it sat in a box until July, when I used it for the first time. I didn't have high hopes for it but I thought, "What the heck. Let's see what it does."

Since I dine at Brazilian Churrascaria restaurants (Fogo de Chao, Espetus), I decided to do the traditional Picanha, with the salt-garlic brine. I cut each piece to be around 2" x 5" x 1" and fold each piece to a "C" shape. Each skewer can fit 3 to 4 pieces. Shewer the meat so that the flat side is parallel with "C" shape --- it makes it easier to slice later on.

Here's what I did:

After washing all the parts the first time, assemble the grill and place it on your biggest burner. Turn the heat on high (for beef). Make sure you put in 2 cups of water. Brush the brine on the beef and lower the skewers in. Place the skewers in with the "C" shape side facing the center. Rotate 180 once it's brown. Serve when both sides are golden brown.

When you slice off the cooked pieces on each side. The center should still be rare. Brush more brine on and put the skewers back in.

Result:

"Amazing!" is the first response from my taste tester. It tastes great! Nice smokey taste --- must be from the fat drippings.

Did not produce too much smoke --- I had the fan on low but didn't see any smoke come out. The house only had a slight food smell.

Easy to set up. Okay to clean up --- it's like cleaning up a couple of pots but it wasn't any harder than that.

Looking to do lamb and shrimp (in addition to beef) next time.

I LOVE to eat and I LOVE my local Brazilian churrascaria steakhouses nearby, but times are tough and I need to stop indulging. I have to admit, I bought this Grillex Indoor Brazilian BBQ grill on an empty stomach dreaming of all the scrumptious meat I'd be able to partake of at any hour of the day. When it arrived and I set it up, truly my eyes were bigger than my stomach.

This product comes with 5 skewers, a basket accessory and a double prong skewer along with the stove-top apparatus; but to be honest, I've only used the 5 skewers and even that is too much food. I started by grilling 3 skewers of meat and 2 with vegetables. But of late, I find myself grilling 2 skewers of vegetables au natural with just salt and pepper and one skewer of meat and I find myself satisfied. I've left marinating meat and vegetables and just cooking them from raw to roasted with minimal seasoning.

Darn if I didn't lose 5 pounds in 1 week (In the interest of full disclosure: I made a pact with myself now to only eat meat for dinner; Breakfast and Lunch mostly consists of coffee, oatmeal, eggs, potatoes, soup & salads(sometimes with but mostly without chicken/beef/bacon depending on my craving at the moment of truth).

I experimented with making Armenian Beef Lula kabobs along with the vegetable skewers and they came out great on the first try! It's given me the confidence to try my hand at making Tzatziki (Cucumber Yogurt Dip) and Armenian rice pilaf to go along with the skewered goodness!

If and when I lose 20 lbs. with the help of this product, I'm treating myself to a Brazilian Steakhouse Dinner night out. I'll do it again if I drop the full 50 lbs. I'm ultimately trying to lose. I may even post my weight loss updates in the future. Hope this helps!

First night with the Grillex was way better than expected. It's much easier than I thought and the recipe times are spot on.

I made the following:

Marinated chicken strips (sliced thin and then overnight marinated in Newman's Sesame Ginger.) Skewered up. 8 minutes over medium plus heat and then rotated. Best, most tender chicken ever.

Pork loin. Marinated. (Basque sauce) Sliced and skewered. 10 minutes, rotated then like 8 minutes. Amazing!

Salmon in the cage. Lemon pepper and rosemary. Forgot the times but again, prepped perfectly.

Pros:

Easy to use. SUPER easy to clean. SUPER GOOD FOOD!

Cons: I wanted more skewers but it appears I can buy more.

This is a great gift if you or someone you know loves Brazilian BBQ but cant afford Fogo de Chao.

But this is the coolest cooking item I have purchased maybe ever (except my cooking tongs and scissors) This cooks meat, especially decent cuts to the perfect level, maintaining the juices and dripping the fats to the bottom of the pan so well. Sausages and vegetables are cracklingly good on the outside and super moist on the inside. Tomatoes are so very juicy. It also cooks these meats and vegetables super fast. (7 mins a side, you rotate the skewers)

It's up to you to marinate your meats, and I highly recommend decent cuts, bacon laced skewers work amazing to get flavors in-between items too. I love this thing.
