If you want to know the storyline of the game, Wikipedia has a good synopsis. For the full effect of an adventure game, it's better not to read any plot descriptions (aside from the ones on the box) before playing "Grim Fandango."
Well-written and animated, though I had some trouble with compatibility issues on Windows XP because the game was originally intended for Windows ME/98. The game succeeds at making the player feel like he/she is watching a movie, and puzzles don't detract from that feel. If you don't use any walkthroughs, you'll feel as though you were the one making every significant decision in the plot.

The bad: the puzzles are sometimes weird and hard and barely logical.
The good: Everything else. Concept, artwork, story, characters, graphics, sound. There are very few adventure games that come close to this almost perfect implementation of the genre. There are compatibility issues installing/playing the game on recent hardware/software. I have followed these instructions: search for "grim fandango compatibility" |
