Editorial Reviews

LucasArts' game Grim Fandango, "the epic tale of crime and corruption in the land of the dead," comes to life in this lush original score featuring swing-era jazz, bebop -- and a few surprises. One of the greatest scores for one of the greatest games of all time, this official release features 32 tracks and a playing time of 43:41.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Game, Good Music September 13, 2007
Grim FandangoThis is, of course, the soundtrack from one of the greatest games of all time. Although some tracks are less good than others--the composing, I'm sure, was done on a deadline--the good tracks are GREAT. Glottis' sassy trumpet solo, the bass clarinet and saxophone of Domino, and Meche's unforgettable guitar theme are all there. I couldn't stop humming the tunes--and it's great to be able to hear them outside the game. The live performances are a real treat. Don't pay TOO much for it, though.

About this CD:
This is the soundtrack CD to (in many eyes) the best adventure game, Grim Fandango. Because only limited numbers were made the CD is very rare, hence expensive. Obviously due to its price it is most suitable for "real" fans of the game, yet I believe a music collector wouldn't be disappointed at all.

The music is just great. The songs are fantastic and the quality superb. It is so nice to listen to the music and let it take you back to the awesome atmosphere of the game. People I know that haven't played the game rate the music very high as well. As a compilation disc it transcend genres just enough to be diverse and (remains) fun to listen to, yet remains in style. I never play it for just one track, always from beginning to end without skipping.

It comes in a cardboard sleeve which is somewhat disappointing, it would have been nicer to have in a digipack. It feels just a bit silly paying a lot for something that has the same type of casing as $3 hit single CD. The print is very stylish.

4.0 out of 5 stars Some of My Favorite Jazz November 19, 2013 in this CD.
This is a great soundtrack to a great game--atmospheric and appropriate.

My only question is, Why doesn't Lucasarts just make a digital download of this soundtrack available? (Well, okay, and make a new WiiWare/Steam/etc version. But seriously.)

EDIT: Upon scouring the internet, I found that Lucasarts has indeed allowed digital download of the music here: [...]
Happy Listening!
