Book Description

King Grim Vasteri is the strongest and most feared warrior in the Tornian Empire. He is the King of Luda, blood brother to the Emperor and his line will die with him. He will have no offspring for no female would join with him for once he was scarred he was considered 'unfit'. The Tornian Empire has been dying ever since the great infection caused the birth of females to become a rarity. Since then they have been searching the known universes for compatible females. The Emperor's discovery of a compatible female on a slave ship changed that. He'd ordered Grim to find his Empress' home world so more 'unprotected' females could be obtained, knowing Grim would never be allowed to Join with one.
Lisa Miller is a widowed mother of two little girls, Carly and Miki. Her husband died just a year ago, after a long battle with cancer and she misses him immensely. Friends want her to start dating again but in her heart, she knows there isn't a man on the planet she could love like her Mark. Who could love their girls like their own. Therefore, she'll stay alone.
When Lisa is discovered 'unprotected' at her husband's grave, she wakes on an alien ship heading for an alien world. Refusing to accept this she confronts the large males, demanding she be returned to her children. Seeing his chance to have a female, Grim agrees to accept and protect her offspring, if she agrees to Join with him and only him. Realizing this is the only way she can retrieve her children Lisa agrees and the Tornian Empire changes forever.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wanted, editor... September 6, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This was a good book with a good story line. What keeps it from greatness is the editing (or lack thereof). Usually this is a dealbreaker for me. This book is so good that while irritating, the flaws could not keep me from wanting to read the rest of the story. There are misspelled words (or incorrect word choices), words left out, the present tense/past tense of the sentences was bizarre. With all that said, I still loved the characters and the story, and I want to know what happens next!

4.0 out of 5 stars Editor needed STAT! September 9, 2013
By pcm
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Great story premise, good characters...but the writer evidently didn't even check grammar OR word usage during the process. "On slot" does NOT mean the same thing as onslaught. To and too, due and do, bear and bare, where and were and wear...the editing suffered all thru the book, not just at the beginning. One character had a name change spelling in the last 2 chapters. Apostrophes and commas were inserted, or not, where it could make reading continuity hard to achieve. Random words stuck in passages that had nothing to do with the sentence they landed in. This is all stuff a proofreader would have caught.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good read but needs a better editor September 4, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
While I did enjoy this book (better than I thought I would) I really think who ever editted this book should be fired. The author had an engaging plot, likabe heroine & hero, a great conflict/resolution but my enjoyment of this book was almost tarnished by the multiple grammar issues, spelling and punctuation that littered this book.

Word usage such as 'your' instead of 'you're', their instead of they're...things of that nature. Sometimes, the only way I knew what the author meant was by content because of a mix-up in the word usage.

I don't wish to distract anyone from purchasing this book because this is a REALLY good read but just keep in mind there are editting issues.

I would love to read more from this author, if only she would use a more traditional means of writing and pay attention to editing and correct word usage. I really had to struggle through this book and almost deleted it more than once. If the story line had not been good, I would not have finished. I hope to see a better presentation from this author, as I believe she has great stories to tell.

3.0 out of 5 stars Please edit!!! September 10, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have to agree with all the other reviews: This is a great story, but the editing is extremely lacking!! I was intrigued by all the characters and really enjoyed the Tornian world, but the present tense writing style and the really poor editing made this book a challenge to finish. I hope the mistakes will be corrected soon so that others can really get to enjoy this colorful tale!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing read September 12, 2013

Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Amazing read. The characters, plot, character development and environment were awesome. This story was an great find and I was very happy with my purchase. I did read all the reviews, and was prepared for the present tense usage and the misspelling and bad punctuation. After a while, my mind just auto corrected these mistakes and I read on undisturbed. Some people can not do this however, so if you are one of those people, then maybe this book is not for you. However, I am thrilled to have tried this book, loved it and can't wait for the next book. I`d definitely recommend this book to anybody.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good September 7, 2013

This was a great story with AWFUL editing! I really liked how the author developed the world and characters. However, the glaringly bad editing made this book confusing at times. I hope M.K.E. takes more time with her next book to be sure that these errors do not happen again. If not for the elementary school level editing, I would have given this book 5 stars.

3.0 out of 5 stars I really like this story September 10, 2013

I really do like this one. The storyline was exciting and characters believable. I want to know what the Goddess has planned for the other women of Earth. The perspective of the story is different from what I am used to, but this one made me laugh and cry. The author could use a good proofreader, but I would still buy the next story if written. Please write it, I want MORE!

5.0 out of 5 stars Grim and Lisa Rule
Loved this book. Story was well written, characters were relatable, and scenario was believable. With Sci-fi romance you don't always get a story that is well down. Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars but still a nice quick read
Well written, a bit wordy in some areas, but still a nice quick read. Interesting twist on matriarchal/patriarchal society while still heart warming.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good SciFi Romance
This book was much better than I anticipated. Often the scifi romance books are a bit cheesy. Grim was a perfect formula of scifi, adventure, and romance. Read more

The fact that the author is just starting is true. You say 'the great story over-road (sic) all my problems with spelling'. I felt the story had promise if one is totally willing to suspend ALL belief but there isn't a story yet which could override the problem of the sheer number of... Read More
