Grimsley Hollow - Eve of the Beginning is a prequel to the wonderful book, "Grimsley Hollow - The Chosen One" by Nicole Storey. It tells its story through the eyes of Eve Broch, the little witch in The Chosen One as she chronicles the events leading up to the her arrival in the human world to recruit Gage's help in saving her world of magical creatures from the evil Inari. It provides a great back story for the characters in the first book. Since I read the chosen one prior to this book, I am bias toward recommending the books be read in that order. However,I think this story of Eve, if read first, will flow nicely into the previously published book in the series.
I enjoyed the humor in the book a great deal and there is lots of it. But there are also some touching moments where the reader can't help but love the little witch's spirit and courage. What questions the reader of the first book may have had about Grimsley Hollow and the magical creatures who live there, are answered nicely in this addition to the series.
Eve's story is entertaining to read because she is a likable, witty and warmly written character. The book, although a prequel, is delightful as a stand alone story.

What a great beginning of what looks like a promising series. I was instantly entranced and completely enchanted by the whimsical story. I must have been ingesting elf brew too. I'm no YA fan and to be able to interest me in a book takes a bit of ingenuity on the part of the author. Nicole receives high mark from me, and I can't wait to read the next in the series!

Not many books get my attention like the Grimsley Hollow books. There is just something special about picking up a book and instantly getting lost in a whole new world. Every mythical creature you could ever dream of comes alive in this story, which is magical in itself. From the first page I was entranced and could not put it down until I finished. It was almost like a spell had been cast on me. It is a wonderfully spun story that not only had the attention of this 45 yr old mother of four, but her 8 year old daughter as well. I cannot wait for Ms. Storey to cast another spell, but until then, I think I'll just re-read this one...again.

Nicole Storey lives in the hot and humid part of Georgia with her husband, two amazing children, and a bunch of goldfish. When she's not being a mom, wife, house-cleaner, chauffer, nurse, and zoo-keeper, she visits Grimsley Hollow and dreams up adventures for her characters who live there.
