Editorial Reviews

From the Back Cover

Dr. Seuss's original artwork lights up the screen as Walter Matthau narrates this Christmas classic. The Grinch has a wonderfully devious plan to stop Christmas from coming to Who-ville, but he soon discovers that, with or without all the trimmings, Christmas arrives just the same. Original music and Walter Matthau's gruffly lovable style make this a holiday treat for the whole family to treasure. Plus: If I ran the Zoo Join zookeeper Gerald McGrew for a hilarious visit to the McGrew Zoo, when you'll meet some of the craziest creatures ever dreamed up, including a scraggle-foot Mulligatawny and a tizzle-toped Tufted Mazurka.

2.0 out of 5 stars Beware - this is not the version you are familiar with!, November 17, 1999
By A Customer
Yes, it's the Grinch, but an old one. No songs, jerky animation etc. This is an old version of the Grinch who stole Christmas; not the one that you are probably familiar with that is regularly shown on TV. Just a heads up!

1.0 out of 5 stars DON'T BUY THIS VERSION!, December 13, 1999
By TradeMaven "ClosingBelle" (Laguna Beach, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This is NOT the one! This is more horrible than home video and is so poorly done it should be removed from circulation as it confuses the buyer into thinking it is the cassic animated video. You will be sorry if you buy this! Get the other one.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not what it appears to be., December 6, 1999
By A Customer
This video is not the classice animated feature. It is a collection of still photos, captured on video, with a voice over.

This placard version--a series of still images--with narration by a single reader is far inferior to the cartoon.

I agree with all the folks here saying what a drag this product is. I bought it on the fly in a brick-and-mortar store to put inside my son's Christmas stocking. Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars I also was fooled
I think it's very sneaky that they make people think this is the Grinch that we see on tv every year. I also made the same mistake and was very unhappy when I put the tape in.
