Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

In this third-person action-adventure game--which is based, in part, on the live-action film Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas!--you play the role of the Mean One himself. Embark on a quest through 24 missions, from Whoville to an underwater world, and across four Seussian environments with three minigames and a bonus level. Players collect and assemble a variety of gadgets, such as the rotten-egg launcher, the slime shooter, bad breath, and the GrinchCopter. Players can transform into the Grinch's sidekick, Max the Dog, to explore areas that are inaccessible to the Mean One.

4.0 out of 5 stars "The Grinch" is GOOD!!, September 19, 2001
This review is from: The Grinch (Video Game)
Believe it or not, this is really a fun game.... The graphics are average for a Dreamcast game but the small touches of humor and Suess based drawings make up for it. You play as the Grinch and run around various locales filled with "Who's" and basically try to ruin their Christmas. From stomping presents and snowmen, dropping beehives down chimneys and hurling rotten eggs into windows, this game is fun and has some challenging puzzles. Believe me, while kids might enjoy this game it seems directed at an older audience who can appreciate the subtle (and not so subtle) humor and it definately takes some patience (or cheat sheets) to get by some of the puzzles. Another fun aspect is that you can control the Grinch's dog Max to get certain items. It is a blast to run around town as the dog and bark at people. I have spent about 10 hours playing this game and I am not tired of it yet. So, if you want a fun "Mario/Spyro" type adventure with large worlds to explore... check out The Grinch!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not a good game!, December 12, 2000
By
This review is from: The Grinch (Video Game)
I loved the movie, The Grinch, but this game is just bad.

First of all, the graphics are very bad for Dreamcast. They look more like Playstation's graphics. Second, It gets annoying. Every few steps, you will have to wait a minute while they recite a cute little DR. Seuss rhyme about the place. Third, the missions you have to do are very poorely explained. Fourth, one of the most annoying things were that every time you go near a kid in Whoville, he'll try to hug you and say,"Hi big daddy!" and you have to shake him loose. This happens a lot.

I have to admit that they did do a good job on Whoville.

5.0 out of 5 stars Clearly an under-rated hit., December 27, 2001
This review is from: The Grinch (Video Game)
I purchased this game for my sons as an after-thought and now we are all hooked. The graphics are ok but the plot and puzzles are extremely interesting. There is enough entertainment in this little heralded gem to keep all ages happy - for example my five year old is happy wandering around and smashing presents - using the "patented" grinch bun buster method - while the nine year old is zooming through mazes and consulting yours truly for puzzle solving tips. Now dear old dad - is curled up in front of the set wandering around in "who" disguises and swiping eggs. It is great fun and if you don't have add it to your collection!
