5.0 out of 5 stars THIS IS THE TOTALLY #1 BEST BOOK HE HAS EVER DONE!
This was by far the absolute favorite of mine because of the cute and funny content. This also has a good ending moral value of what Christmas really is. This book is traditionally read every year during the holiday season at my house. It is a book for everyone! My favorite part is,"He turned around fast, and he saw a small Who! This review is from: How the Grinch Stole Christmas! Coloring Book: Special 40th Anniversary Edition (Super Coloring Book) (Paperback)
Be sure that you understand that this is a coloring book, with black and white outlines of the images of the famous Dr. Seuss characters from this story, along with the complete text of the original. The pages are reproduced on rather flimsy paper, and coloring in the figures will produce a much less aesthetic result than the full-color version of the Dr. Seuss original in hard cover. On the other hand, if you are on a budget, this is a very inexpensive way to buy How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

One problem with creating a coloring book directly using the original image outlines of this book is that many of the details are very fine. I doubt if I have the manual dexterity to neatly color within most of the lines. So this book could prove frustrating to all but the most talented of colorers capable of great work "inside the lines" and those who don't care about the lines at all. I suspect that the only hope of a neat job would be to use fine point colored pencils and to have a very steady hand and sturdy eraser available. Even then, it will be difficult to put in the background color to make the whole page attractive in the typical Dr. Seuss style.

So my advice is that you gauge your decision about this book to your child's preferences in coloring books. A younger child who doesn't care about coloring neatly, likes to color, and recently saw the movie may be the best candidate.

If you don't have a copy of the story, and this is what your budget allows, then do buy it. It's a five star choice for you. You will be far better off than not having it. ....

This book would have been improved if the pages and the images had been made much larger. Then some of the potential frustration of the small details for the colorer could have been avoided.

If you don't know the story, it's just before Christmas and the Grinch decides he's had it with Christmas celebrations by the Whos in Who-ville. He's an antihero in the Scrooge tradition who takes things a bit further in pursuing his goals than Scrooge ever did. It "may have been that his heart was two sizes too small." He carries out his plan to stop Christmas from being celebrated. Then Christmas day arrives, and he has an epiphany. "'Maybe Christmas,' he thought, 'doesn't come from a store. Maybe Christmas . . . perhaps . . . means a little bit more!'"

To me, this is one of the best of all timeless tales about the true meaning of Christmas. I hope you will decide to share it with others who will enjoy that message using whichever version of this book is most appropriate. ....

This was by far the absolute favorite of mine because of the cute and funny content. This also has a good ending moral value of what Christmas really is. This book is traditionally read every year during the holiday season at my house. It is a book for everyone! My favorite part is,"He turned around fast, and he saw a small Who! Little Cindy-Lou Who, who was not more than two. The Grinch had been caught by this tiny who daughter Who'd got out of bed for a cup of cold water. She stared at the Grinch and said, Santy Clause , why, Why are you taking our Christmas Tree? Why?" Dr. Seuss is a wonderful author and illistrator and has really touched me with his simple book of morals, funny characters, and intresting plots. He is number one in children's books and especially his work in," How the grinch Stole Christmas."

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice Inexpensive Coloring Book for Older Colorer, December 3, 2000

This is a terrific stocking stuffer. The Dr. Seuss version of the GRINCH Who Stole Christmas arrives as a coloring book. Buyers should note however that it does not look like the book. As advertised, it is a coloring book. As such, the pages are rather thin and beige-colored. Also note, many of the pages' characters are small or thin and would be better suited to the child who colors well and has long abandoned the chunky crayons. A nice little "pick me up" gift for a six or seven year old or for any older person who collects GRINCH items and memorabilia.

This review is from: How the Grinch Stole Christmas! Coloring Book: Special 40th Anniversary Edition (Super Coloring Book) (Paperback)
Hi my name is Kevin Gentry and I am going to do a book review on How the Grinch stole Christamas. The aothor of the book is Dr Seuss. The genre of the book is fantasy because it is about a faraway place and imaginary people. The number of pages is -.
The setting of the book is in a place called whoville. The plot of the book is yhat the meanest person in whoville the Grinch does not like Christamas and he is trying to ruen Christamas.
The 3 things I like about this book are that it makes me laugh when he dresses like Christamas. And the pictures are cool. And because of the holiday"CHRISTAMAS".
I would like to recomond this book to anyone who hasn't read it yet."BYE"

This little grinchy book is fun to color, but a little tedious at times. If you have lots of time on your hands, love to color, and love the Grinch, then this book is for you!
