"All I'm saying is that if you took it down a notch or two, you'd make the jumps and save the injuries."
"I always makes the jumps," I argued.
"What are you talking about?"
"I make the jumps. It's the landings that I'm having trouble with."

Matt's review,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Grind (Orca Soundings) (Paperback)
I read Grind by Eric Walters. I liked the book because it had a lot of exciting parts. I especially liked the part when Phillip jumped over the security car that came really close to almost hitting him. Another cool part is when Wally fell on the rail that he was grinding on his board. He fell off and he had to go to the hospital with a broken leg.
The story is about two friends who love to skate. Then the ex-girlfriend comes along then a fourth friend, a genius, joins them. They all agree they should open up a web page together and spilt up the money 25% because there are 4 of them. They make a cent a hit every time some one logs on. The type of reader who would like this book is someone who likes action and overall skating. It's a quick read.

Teen skateboarding,
This review is from: Grind (Orca Soundings) (Paperback)
Phillip and Wally live for skateboarding, meaning school takes a back seat to the sport. When they meet a professional skateboarder getting ready to film a move, they learn that the skateboarder's website makes money each time someone goes to the site. With the help of a former girlfriend and a techy geek at school, the boys get their own website up on the web. When filming a stunt to post on the site, Wally is seriously injured. This book is part of the popular Orca Soundings series. It has a low reading level but is high interest for teens. Another winner for Orca Book Publishers.

Orca Soundings Books,
By Allison "Allison" (New York) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Grind (Orca Soundings) (Hardcover)
Orca Soundings books are great for middle and high school children who have difficulty reading. They are high interest level books that are easier to read. Usually, my child would never bring the book he is reading to school because they looked "babyish". For the first time, my son isn't embarrased to carry these books in his back pack: the covers always appear age appropriate and are in fact, interesting! In fact, when I tell him to go read, I don't have to help him AND there isn't an argument!!! I am so happy we discovered these books. His favorites so far are Juice and Tell.
