You'll have to get past a few annoyances to enjoy doing this video. Landon and the assisting dancers forget that they should be cuing for us, not each other, so they cue "right foot" when it's our left, and vice versa--very irritating when you're trying to learn the steps from the cuing. In addition, the camera inexplicably does not always show the feet when the instructors are demonstrating new footwork.
If you can ignore those impediments, this video is lots of fun. Each dancer teaches a segment of the choreography, showing it first fast, then slow, then fast again. Then the new segment is added onto the end of the sequence already taught, so the pattern grows each time. The choreography is energetic and innovative--coordination and patience required!
After the dancing and cool-down, Landon leads a yoga-inspired stretch routine. --Joan Price

BEST Warm Up, Fun Workout!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Grind Workout: Fitness With Flava [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I own at least 20 workout videos and out of the 20 this one definitely has THE best warm up, which is very important - trust me, I once suffered a severe neck injury while working out. I always use this warm up, even in conjunction with other exercise videos or if I just need a good stretch. One reviewer said it was a dance routine in disguise, but that's the fun of it. I took Jazz for 5 years and the instruction in this video is similar to that of a dance class. Tina's a very renown choreographer and I think she does a great job here as an aerobics instructor. The steps are broken down enough to where anyone should be able to pick them up after a few tries. Believe me, they do a great job of demonstrating all the moves. (I own a hip hop areobics tape from the Crunch series and I still haven't made it through half of it) There's also not a lot of jumping up & down or high impact moves involved. The music is definitely not typical of a workout tape, but then again it is MTV affiliated. The steps that are taught are very much in line with the music, which is on the dance/hip-hop side and it's familiar and performed by the original artists - that's a plus. The yoga at the end of the workout is an added bonus, maybe even a little too brief. As for Eric and the crew, they can be pretty annoying. Eric is definitely not a great fitness instructor and it's obvious he seems to think he's pretty cool (if no one else does), but he is fun to look at! Overall, I definitely recommend this video if you're looking within the MTV Grind series. However, please realize that if you're not into dance and don't have a penchant for r&b/hip-hop music you should look elsewhere.

The Grind Video Collection is a hit for lovers of Dance!!!!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Grind Workout: Fitness With Flava [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I found this exercise tape to be one of my favorites. My problem is I don'tlike to work out but I LOVE to dance. This tape had challenging dance moves and I love it. The key is you have to love dance and have the ability to dance. I catch on to dances very easily and I found this to be challening and fun. After I learned the routine it became even better! You have to take the suggestions and add your on "flava" to it. I would advise anyone who CAN dance, loves to dance, and those who hate regular aerobics to pick up this video tape and the rest in this collection. - Alisha

not the best workout or dance video,
By A Customer
This review is from: Grind Workout: Fitness With Flava [VHS] (VHS Tape)
The most disappointing thing about this video, besides the pretty lame dance moves, is that it is from 1995 not 1999 as advertised. There is nothing worse than thinking you bought something somewhat up to date...and then finding yourself doing the "skater" to Naughty By Nature songs. However, I did sweat a little....but I would suggest buying a different video if you are looking for something with more recent music and moves.
