BEST Warm Up, Fun Workout!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Grind Workout: Fitness With Flava [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I own at least 20 workout videos and out of the 20 this one definitely has THE best warm up, which is very important - trust me, I once suffered a severe neck injury while working out. I always use this warm up, even in conjunction with other exercise videos or if I just need a good stretch. One reviewer said it was a dance routine in disguise, but that's the fun of it. I took Jazz for 5 years and the instruction in this video is similar to that of a dance class. Tina's a very renown choreographer and I think she does a great job here as an aerobics instructor. The steps are broken down enough to where anyone should be able to pick them up after a few tries. Believe me, they do a great job of demonstrating all the moves. (I own a hip hop areobics tape from the Crunch series and I still haven't made it through half of it) There's also not a lot of jumping up & down or high impact moves involved. The music is definitely not typical of a workout tape, but then again it is MTV affiliated. The steps that are taught are very much in line with the music, which is on the dance/hip-hop side and it's familiar and performed by the original artists - that's a plus. The yoga at the end of the workout is an added bonus, maybe even a little too brief. As for Eric and the crew, they can be pretty annoying. Eric is definitely not a great fitness instructor and it's obvious he seems to think he's pretty cool (if no one else does), but he is fun to look at! Overall, I definitely recommend this video if you're looking within the MTV Grind series. However, please realize that if you're not into dance and don't have a penchant for r&b/hip-hop music you should look elsewhere.

The Grind Video Collection is a hit for lovers of Dance!!!!!,

I found this exercise tape to be one of my favorites. My problem is I don'tlike to work out but I LOVE to dance. This tape had challenging dance moves and I love it. The key is you have to love dance and have the ability to dance. I catch on to dances very easily and I found this to be challening and fun. After I learned the routine it became even better! You have to take the suggestions and add your on "flava" to it. I would advise anyone who CAN dance, loves to dance, and those who hate regular aerobics to pick up this video tape and the rest in this collection. - Alisha

not the best workout or dance video,
By A Customer
This review is from: Grind Workout: Fitness With Flava [VHS] (VHS Tape)
The most disappointing thing about this video, besides the pretty lame dance moves, is that it is from 1995 not 1999 as advertised. There is nothing worse than thinking you bought something somewhat up to date...and then finding yourself doing the "skater" to Naughty By Nature songs. However, I did sweat a little....but I would suggest buying a different video if you are looking for something with more recent music and moves.

This is a dance routine in disguise--not a workout,

When I bought this video I thought I was getting a hip exciting video.Well, it's moves and music are hip but overall it's very repetitive. It's more like a dance number than a workout.I found it somewhat boring doing the same thing over for an 1/2 hr. I doubt I will do this "workout" again and I wish I could return it.I did not feel like I got a good workout even though I did break a sweat. It does not target any problems areas of most women (hips and thighs). If you get bored easily, stick to the Cindy Crawford workout and suffer thru the boring music-you will get a better workout than this video. I wish someone would have told me this was a dance number rather than a workout or I wouldn't have purchased it.

Terrible Video,

This video is not very smooth and you can hardly hear the music. The routine is very erratic. Fat Burning Grooves is an EXCELLENT alternative if you like the MTV Grind Series.

I expected more...,

I have all of the other Grind workout videos, and this one I have to say is the worst. The moves from the others are more exciting and innovative. I felt like I spent an hour warming up and then all of a sudden I was cooling down. Wasn't there supposed to be some sort of a workout here? I expected more from an A-List choreographer (Tina Landon). The moves were far too easy. I think the best Grind workout overall is Fat-Burning Grooves but the most complicated is Dance Club Aerobics.

Soundtrack very soft,

As others have said, this is a fun workout even if the music/hair/outfits are somewhat dated. My biggest issue is that the sound quality is pretty awful - you can hardly hear the music behind the vocal instructions! And working out without music just isn't that much fun. Try the Hip-Hop Aerobics video instead, it may still be dated but at least the sound balance is right!

I brought this video a year or so after having brought the first Grind workout video. I do like some of the music in this video. The stretching in the begining and end is good. I like dance workouts, but in this one they show you a dance move and then break it down and then do it at tempo. It is repitative. I hardly break a sweat with this workout. My fingers got a good workout with having to keep rewinding.

If you like to dance, this is a good workout. There some "attitude" in this video, which I love and keeps me motivated. Take a few times to get the steps but after that you can really break a sweat. After doing this tape for awhile, I really had to put my own groove into it to keep the sweat going. After I got the moves down pat, I would do up to tempo thru the whole video, rather than wait around while they taught the slower steps...this kept the sweat coming!

Could have been better,

This video does provide a great workout. It has fabuous stretching at the beginning and a cool down at the end with yoga. During the workout a lot of time is spent learning the dance moves with the dance being preformed after you learn each new move and then doing the dance in it's entirety about 5 times at the end (before you cool down). I think once I've mastered these dance steps that it will be boring going over this every time since the whole video is about learning the dance. The dancers are great, it was cool seeing Eric, and Tina does a great job.
