Grindz Tablets, 3 Single Use Coffee Grinder Cleaner Tablets

I have the Rancilio Rocky. Honestly pretty easy to clean by disassembly but messy and about a thirty minute job. Could go faster but scrubbing each part in soapy water and re-assembly set at zero grind just before blades touch is a bit of trial and error for me. And the grinder is shiny clean clear into the tiniest grooves and intersticise.

So only Four Stars for the tablet method which I plan to use most times going forward. Tablets are bland organic hard material. Whatever is left in the machine after use can be pretty well cleaned out with a little coffee bean grinding and tossing. If there was a tiny amount left in first cup or two chances are you will not taste it. For sure it will not hurt you. This will be your Princess Test. Remember that a PEA was placed under many mattresses and she still felt it proving her Princessness. You now get to test yourself with coffee. Grindz Tablets are near white in color and show up in ground coffee so you know when to toss and when to drink anyway.

Good easy way to clean but if you have plenty of time and like to take things apart and know how to put them back together then get your screw driver and save a few bucks. I'll use Grindz most of the time.

Put these into my Baratza Virtuosos Grinder and started to grind away.
Beans are off-white, but powder in the ground coffee bin was light brown, so I knew it was working.

There must have been a rock or something in my grinder b/c half way through it locked up and I had to disassemble and reassemble several times during the cleaning process.
oh well. All is good now.

Last week I had cleaned out the coffee pot with vinegar solution. Also oxy-cleaned the Stainless Steel Carafe and my thermos.
Coffee tasted better but not 100%

This weekend I cleaned the grinder and gold-tone filter.
Coffee is fantastic this morning.

Grinder being dirty was my weak point and I fixed it thanks to this easy to use product. Can't ask for more.

If you truly love gourmet coffee, you know that cleanliness is the secret to enjoyment. You have to clean all of your brewing equipment to prevent rancid oils from building up. This stuff helps to clean the inside of a coffee grinder. I would recommend it if you want a pure coffee taste.

Just started using these cleaning "beans" and they work very well. Easy to use, and they do a good job of cleaning out the coffee residue from the grinding mechanism in our Capresso 565 burr grinder.

The simplest way to clean out your grinder. I don't give it 5 stars because it's not cheap enough to not contemplate cleaning the old fashioned way...

Before discovering these little gems my only option for cleaning my grinder was to take it all apart with a screwdriver and brush the coffee off the grinding components by hand. Needless to say, I didn't do it as often as I should. Running a pack of these through cleans the grinder beautifully, and I only have to do the full take-apart a couple times a year. Be sure to have some cheap coffee on hand to run through after to get the grinding dust out or you'll waste a lot of the good stuff running it through.

I got these mainly for my Baratza Vario since removing the burrs for manual cleaning with a brush is a bit of a pain. This option is much easier and quicker - just run a pouch of the cleaning "beans" through the grinder and you're done!

It works very well. To test it out, I did a before and after look at the burrs in my Breville Smart Grinder since those burrs are far easier to remove than the Vario. Before running the cleaning beans the burrs were quite clogged up since I was using some rather oily beans. After cleaning they looked brand new.

After running the cleaning you'll want to run a small amount of beans through the grinder to remove any final traces of the cleaning powder.

You can also get these in a large size container which is much cheaper per ounce than the pre-pack. Highly recommend, especially if your grinder has difficult to remove burrs.

This has worked amazingly well for two of my grinders. I have used it on a Mazzer Mini and now my Vario. I should probably use it more often, but I tend to clean the grinder every 3-4 months. I use the same beans for the most part, but when I do venture off to new beans, I am sure to clean the grinder before and after the switch. Works very well, if you are serious about espresso/coffee and grind your own beans, then don't scrimp on cleaning that grinder!

I have a very expensive coffee grinder (Baratza) that stopped working 2 months into the job. I finally ordered the Grindz Tables to clean it and have in service again: the Grindz tables did an awesome job in cleaning. I wish I could remember where I got the grinder and tell them about it, because I was expecting a LOT more from it and not to completely halt only after 2 months of usage.... I am stuck with it and I know I will have to do this nasty procedure every 2 months..... I think I am going to go back to regular blade grinders!

Maybe it's supposed to be obvious, or maybe I'm too "green" in the coffee making department.
I tried using this on a Starbucks Digital Italia machine which grinds whole beans, then brews individual cups.
This did not go well as the grinder cleaner went into the brew unit and clogged for a while.
If there was a way to stop the brew process after the grind process than this would be excellent.

The Grinder cleaner tablets seem great, so I gave it 5 stars, but if it is so necessary to clean a grinder, than how does one clean an all-in-one machine? The description says nothing to us all-in-one users, which makes me wonder if cleaning a grinder is necessary at all...which doesn't look good for the Gridz tablets...which means maybe it should get 4 stars for questionable usefulness. Ok, 4 stars it is.
