4.0 out of 5 stars More Solid than I Expected, October 18, 2011

I used the largest size drill bit to cut through an asphalt driveway. It worked just fine. The drill bits seem very solid and heavily constructed. I first tried it without the pilot drill and I could not get it started because it would "walk" over the surface.

3.0 out of 5 stars No SDS Arbor, June 27, 2011

This review is from: Grip 8 Piece Tungsten Carbide Core Drill Bit Set Hex Drive (Misc.)
The description is incorrect; there is no SDS arbor. At least in the drill set I received there are two arbors: one for the three larger core bits, one with a smaller threaded connection to use with the 1" core bit. Both arbors had hex shafts. I have a SDS to Jacobs chuck adapter so I was able to use the bits with my SDS drill but a Jacobs chuck is not the best way to transfer power on bits of these sizes. The core bits are not bad, I used the 1-3/4 bit to drill through an 8" solid grouted block wall. It even had to chew slowly through a piece of 1/2 inch rebar, it did this without any of the carbide teeth being torn out. For the price the set is worth it but the description should be changed.
