Better than your standard spring grip,

This review is from: Grip Pro Trainer Hand Grip Forearm Strength Gripper 30, 40 & 50 lbs FULL SET of all 3 weights (Health and Beauty)
I found that the standard spring grips you get in sporting goods stores are too easy (I can do about 150 squeezes before getting tired). These grip trainers are pretty comfortable in my hand and the higher resistance is nice. I found the 30 to be easier than spring grips, the 40 was a little harder than spring grips, and the 50 is pretty difficult (I can only squeeze it about 20 times).
The only complaint I have is that my 40 ripped after about two days of use. The manufacturer replaced the item for me, but only after I shipped the defective item to them at my expense. If I could start over, I would have just bought two 50s instead of this set.

Better than springs?... Yes,
This review is from: Grip Pro Trainer Hand Grip Forearm Strength Gripper 30, 40 & 50 lbs FULL SET of all 3 weights (Health and Beauty)
Bought 3 sets of these, for myself and my roomates. I'm liking mine alot, as has everyone else at my office who has tried them. Much better than similar products I have tried that use springs for tension, being both less noisey, no way to pinch yourself, and more 'flexible' in grip. Only complaint is that some people are allergic to latex, which is what I think these are made of.

If you are an average guy with medium sized hands and have done some working out, you should be able to start with the 40 and quickly work your way into the 50. You can give the 30 to your kid or your wife, it will be too easy for you. I am a 60 yr. old geezer, 6'1", 185, who has kept in shape my entire life, but I am not a real strong guy. I have long fingers but thin bones. From the base of my thumb at the wrist, to the tip of my longest finger, it's 8". For a trained lifter, say, a guy who can bench 300 or more, the 50 will probably be too easy. I took the 50 out of the package--it's the only one I ordered--and was immediately able to squeeze out fifteen reps, holding each rep in closed position for one second.
This is a good product for a number of reasons. 1. Portability: it is easily carried. 2. Convenience: you can do it in your car, on walks, in your office, while watching TV, etc.. 3. Durability: nothing to break here. 4. Cost: the red one alone cost about $10 including shipping, and should last a long time. The smell which other reviewers mentioned? Not a problem at all. If the red one gets too easy after a while, and you can crank out fifty consecutive reps with each hand, try it with just your first three fingers.....then with your last three...notice the big difference? If you change it around you will find ways to keep challenging yourself and increasing your grip strenghth. By the way, as a guy who has worked out his entire life, and who is adamantly opposed to the idea of paying someone to work out--no gym memberships for me--I would also like to highly recommend another very inexpensive product for increasing your grip strength. Go to Home Depot or Lowe's and buy one of those spring clamps, you know, the ones with the orange PVC grips and tips. They sell for maybe $5. You may not be able to fully close it the first time you try it, which is good. Keep working on it and you will eventually get it. The advantage to using these spring clamps is that you get a much wider range of motion than you do with the squeeze circles. Once you master the "Pony" clamps, try placing a dime between the closed handles and see how long you can hold the dime before it falls to the ground. I'd recommend the Pony spring clamps over any of the other similar hand-strengthening products shown on Amazon, because, for one thing, you can't try any of them out before you buy them. My experience with them is that, most of the time, they are too easy. With the Pony, you can just go to your home store and give it a go. The Pony is not easy, at least for me. Plus the Pony is very inexpensive in comparison to those other spring grippers. I have to admit that I did finally wear out a spring on one of them and it broke, but that took a long, long time to come about. So you go and buy another one. In fact, I'd recommend you get two, so that you can alternate hands, i.e., one with left hand, then one with right hand, and so on. Another excellent finger/hand strengthener: fingertip pushups.

I saw this item in a magazine and figure i would try it out. Overall the item is what it advertizes and there is a noticeable difference between the different resistance ranges.
Cons: Item does not have "Grip holds" allowing for grip pressure points to build up on the hand and over a period of time to become uncomfortable. Finger holds and thumb-hold should be provided to relieve this. Pros: Item is exactly as advertised and does increase strength of grip. After a single week of use you will notice an easier time gripping these and significant use does provide a bit of "soreness" to your forearm and fingers. Items can be used in sync with one another starting with either more resistance or less, enabling personalization in workouts. Used in conjunction with free-weights and/or twisting variation forearm workouts this product is particularly effective in increaseing grip strength. Summary: Awesome product, but should be used in conjunction with other products for increased effectiveness.

I purchased these about 2 weeks ago and I really like them so far. I used to (and still do) train with the heavy grip spring grips, but I find that these are MUCH better for bringing to school.
Pros: Comfortable material light cool looking wont shred your skin Can use for just fingers Very comfortable motion in order to squeeze near impossible to hurt self by pinching Cons: lack of heavier grips I'm 17 years old, 5'9, about 160 and ive been training grip for over a year (lifting for about 2.5) Right out of the box I was able to squeeze out 25 reps on the 50 with relative ease. My hands are very big (the same size as my 6'3 220 pound friend) so I'm assuming that may factor in to the ease. Overall this is an absolutely fantastic product and come lacrosse season I'm going to be ripping twine like no other.

I liked the concept of the product. I think the whole idea was great. But I can only give 3 stars for two reasons.First, the smell is terrible. I can only hope that the material is pure natural latex, but there wasn't any mention on what it's made from. Second, the tensions aren't correct. The green one is supposed to be 30 lbs. and the black one 40 lbs., but it felt the other way around. It was way easier to squeeze the black one. I just hope to see some improvements of this originally well-conceived product.

For the price and results, I would highly recommend this product. I have using these donuts during and after workouts, and I see significant gains in my forearms. Before, my forearms small size looked quite ridiculous compared to my biceps, but now my entire arms look tone. I can also realize that there is legitimate strength growth, as both my tennis game, as well as indoor rock climbing skills have progressed as well. This product works! Only downside, I fear my hands may be becoming too strong. I don't want to have too firm of a handshake.

Great Product,

First off, don't listen to anyone who says this product breaks after using it a few times or whatever. I have used this thing almost daily for the past three weeks and it has not even felt like it was weakening or going to break(And I can put up 400 on bench so don't say maybe it's because you're weak). I love this little thing, I keep it in my car for when I'm on long traffic-filled drives and then take it with me into class for whenever I get bored. It's a great way to increase grip strength for seasoned weightlifters on a variety of exercises, plus it toughens up your hands and works in those calluses so you don't ever have to look like a wienie using gloves at the gym. I noticed improvement after two weeks especially on any of my pulling type exercises such as rows or lat pull downs, you just get that little bit of extra edge in the way you won't experience as much hand pain as soon as you are into the exercise. Great product, get it and use it.
