5.0 out of 5 stars Slip Slidin' Away!, July 28, 2008

This review is from: Griptex Wonderliner 12 by 240-Inch Standard Roll, White (Kitchen)
For my purpose "It Works" I use it in my cupboard to keep dishes & glasses from sliding around and breaking ...also works well under electronic components, DVD's TV's, lamps etc., things that easily slip & slide on tables and shelves. The price on Amazon is much better than in home stores like BB&B.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for its purpose., October 4, 2009

This product is easy to cut to size, stays in place, and this is a great price for how much you get.

The bad reviews for this product seem to focus on the fact this Griptex product GRIPS. This product works great for what it was intended. What i purchased the product for was to place underneath rugs that didn't have rubber backing. I used it on the runner that is in my laundry room and on a couple of rugs in my master bath. In both cases, i was able to avoid buying the much more expensive rug mat which is made of the same material. One strip of this stuff down the middle of each rug and they all stay in place perfectly. I was able to spend $10 on one roll of this and keep myself from having to spend about $80 for the appropriate sized rug mats.

I would not recommend lining your cabinets with this product. However, if you have a china cabinet where you don't want the pieces to move around and you very rarely use them that is a possible use. It also provides some cushion for delicate items.

5.0 out of 5 stars Does exactly what it is supposed to do, August 27, 2009

Some things slide. They may be heavy or light. Some things are not supposed to slip and slide, yet you don't want to glue them to the surface. This product is meant for solving these problems. I've been using this type of product for years and it has worked as intended. This brand seems to work as well as what I've used before. The size of the bumps and holes is different but that does not seem to hurt.

My daughter has a mouse cage sitting on a desk, and was concerned that the cat could push it. It's not a concern with this under it. I use this in a china cabinet under certain dishes, including ones that stand vertically. My tea cups go into a sliding drawer in my breakfront when I put away my fine china. I can place them upside down, spaced evenly, without worrying about them sliding or about the rims having any risk of wear.

If you use it in a kitchen drawer, it can keep a drawer organizer from sliding all over the place. Kitchen appliances with missing rubber feet could benefit. If you have a bookshelf where things slide when there are not enough books, this can help. But you would only want it under one book, or you won't be able to slide books off your shelf. If you stack your dishes in a cupboard, this can be placed under the bottom dish on the stack, assuming that you don't typically move the bottom dish and you don't want the stacks of dishes to move around.

The description says it can be used on shelves. It's not a general purpose shelf liner, and I would not recommend it for certain things. I don't care if an everyday drinking glass pushes another one further back when I put it on the shelf. I might want to slide some cans around, or push some cereal boxes further apart. I would never use this product on those types of shelves. In most book cases, it would be a bad idea. It might make sense in medicine cabinets.

Critical reviewers object to the product because it does not help when not used as intended. The description of the item mentions its purpose, and mentions some places it can be used. In other words, you use it on shelves when you need a non slip surface. Use it sparingly and don't use it where you don't expect a problem. Perhaps the product's web page is not clear enough for some people, and should be rewritten. But the product itself fills a niche and is cost effective.
