Product appears to work well in terms of protecting your PC. But there appears to be some not so user friendly aspects:
* Package says 3 - user but I have been unable to load it on a second PC * As for any support, you need a code to access the support and the code I entered does not work, making it impossible to get support.

AVG good, but so far serious lack of tech support,

This review is from: Grisoft AVG Internet Security 3-User 2-Year Family Edition [OLD VERSION] (CD-ROM)
I purchased AVG Internet Security after trying the free version and testing another anti-virus program. I find AVG easy to set up and use, and generally I like the interface. The reason for my not-so-glowing review is twofold:
1) I have the program set up so it scans web pages for 'bad stuff.' The problem is that on a Google search page, it has to scan all the linked pages the search found and this take a bit of time. 2) More serious is the fact that I've used their tech support online form almost a dozen times in the last three weeks to get some simple questions answered (including how to deal with the issue above), and they have never contacted me. More frustrating is the fact that the web site has no phone or email contacts that you can easily find. I finally sent a nasty email to someone there, but if this serious lack of support continues, I'll look for another anti-virus program when its time to renew. David

FINALLY! A SECURITY SUITE THAT DELIVERS!,
By
This review is from: Grisoft AVG Internet Security 3-User 2-Year Family Edition [OLD VERSION] (CD-ROM)
I have been through the lot! THIS IS THE BEST COMPREHENSIVE SECURITY SUITE I EVER HAD! And I had them all...(well, almost)
For years I sweared by NORTON - until two years ago it got so heavy and demanding it slowed my computer to a crawl. Then I gave McAFEE Internet Security a try which, although lighter, pestered me with pop-up messages. When that license expired I gave KASPERSKY Internet Security a try: real secure feeling and detailed settings control; however, a number of internet applications, although given full internet access, were slowed to a trickle. About a month ago I downloaded the AVG INTERNET SECURITY as a 30-day trial. Not two weeks had passed and I decided that THIS IS THE ONE! Light, heuristically effective (it even found a malware that KASPESKY failed to locate - and KASPERSKY has the best reputation on cleaning out everything!), no conflicts, email integration (although not with ThunderBird yet, a minor glitch), excellent AI and quiet. It may seem a bit pricey, yet keep in mind that it comes with a 2 YEAR license, not the usual 12 months that most other Security applications come with. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! UPDATE [April 26, 2008]: AVG offered the FREE option to upgrade to v8.0 for the remainder of the license to every customer that had bought v7.5. Now, THIS is a company that knows how to built customer loyalty!

AVG free antivirus is what Microsoft will enter on your computer by default,

I like this as much as F-secure, and like F-secure, it will not slow your computer down. I have not yet installed this on a second computer, so I do not know if that will work, or if I will have to email suchpport or not or if I will be successful.
However, I still think the only of these programs that ever finds everything without false positives (the worst in this regard is Stopzilla, which is still not listed as rogue antispyware anywhere on the internet as it should be) are the various programs made by PC Tools. They have been improved, but they still slow down computews. The older versioh actually I could not remove from one of my computers, as it kept reinstalling itself. However, that particular computer had EVERYTHING wrong with it--the hard drive (which I replaced), the motherboard, the CDROM/DVD drive, and finally the monitor. At any rate, AVG is often recommended by places that specialize in computer software and hardware repair, but it will not find everything. However, it really depends how long you are on the internet and how careful you are about what sites you visit. Gaming sites, some music sites (eMusic), AOL, Limewire, and lots of others are notorious for placing spyware on your computer, but some of these you do not really expect, like eMusic which is a legitimate music download site.

I use AVG IS on 2 PCs, both have the same problem, SOMETIMES a newly opened IE window can't connect to web site(even localhost) while ping and other web applications working fine. I did a lot of seach on internet, try to find out the problem and did some changes on my PC, finally found out it's because of AVG. After uninstall AVG, they are back to normal. So I'm only using AVG Anti-Virus part now. And my PC got much faster.

AVG is the best Ive used so far...,

In the past Ive used Norton, McAffee & Zone Alarm.
Ive used Zone Alarms Firewall in combination with AVG's Virus/Spyware. Ive been using AVG's complete package, Firewall/Anti-virus/Spyware for several years & (for me) this is the best Internet Security product Ive used. No security product is perfect but AVG has done the best job of protecting my PC from the outside world & I feel more secure using this product than any other. But like all software, AVG isnt for everyone. If your level of PC knowledge is such that you need their 'tech support' to set it up & run, then I strongly suggest you use Norton, McAffee, Zone Alarm, PC Doctor or possibly Micro Softs Live One Care. Those products are not bad, they are just not as good as AVG. However, they are more simplistic to use. They are also more intrusive & likely to slow down your computer. I just gave my neighbor my copy of MS Live One Care that I got for free when I bought a Laptop & its perfect for them. I installed it for them & it will take care of all their needs & they wont have to do anything at all really. Just follow directions... But if youre a little more computer savvy, AVG is the way to go. Im not an IT guy or an expert by any means but I can work my way through AVG just fine. Its really pretty simple to use but it does have more options than the products mentioned above & those options can be confusing at first. But those options just give you more control over your PC use & security & its well worth the effort to familiarize yourself with those options. AVG also searches for root-kit's & now has an Identity Protection function. For the average PC user, I beleive AVG is the best protection available.

No doubt AVG's Internet Security Program is by far the best - exceeds Norton, far exceeds McAfee and the rest - Amazon's 3 pack 2 - year edition price is the best value around!

I bought this product from Amazon and it worked worked fairly well on our computers at first but it was slow as all get out. A few months later when I tried to download the updated version, it did not want to load onto our computers. I finally got it onto my computer. It slowed my computer down to the point where it took 8-10 MINUTES to change pages. AVG refused to help unless I paid almost as much as I paid for the system. I finally had to go to Dell, who had me open up in SAFE mode and delete this product. My computer was running as fast as ever once I got rid of AVG. Now the old version was outdated but the updated version wouldn't work on our computers. I only had the product 5 months. Think they would refund the remainder of the 2 years? Fat chance. Their tech support is terrible, outdone only by their customer service. Apparently I'm not the only one having a problem. Use at your own risk.

I used the free AVG software for many years with no problems and no viruses. They discontinued it so I bought this version. I had problems getting it installed but finally prevailed. For over a year I kept getting a "system 32" error. Then a month ago I could no longer use the AVG virus software. I could no longer execute hard drive virus scans. I wrote to AVG support who gave me a convoluted method of sending them the data that outlined what software programs were being run on my computer. I sent that information and never heard from them since. I uninstalled and reinstalled and experienced even more errors. I tried uninstalling for the last time and I could not even get the software to uninstall. I loaded a different virus software program from a different vender, ran the virus scan and found 4 viruses. Then I was able to uninstall the AVG virus software. I no longer experienced the "system 32" errors. I recommend staying away from this junk. It's a rip off and you will lose your hard drive to a virus.
